Hello everyone,
We would like to address everyone who came to visit the Cafe Rialto during it's last 2 days of opening.
We were overwhelmed by the response & our customers' patience as they waited to see us, in spite of such large queues!
We are also astounded and deeply moved by their generosity as we were able to raise £3000 for Loros charity over the 9 hours in total we were open during the last 2 days.
Also we would like to offer a huge "Thank You" to Stan'ley' Samuel - one of our original Saturday kids & a long-time friend of the Café Rialto, for bringing his band & playing a farewell gig for us inside the Malcolm Arcade as we closed for the last time.
We hope Loros will be putting an item on their weekly Thursday news update in recognition of our donation as a thank you

Hello everyone.

A full week has passed since the Cafe Rialto closed it's doors for the last time. We want to thank everyone who came by for our last days and made it a very memorable event.

We have taken the past week to get a little rest after such a busy last two days. We are still tallying up the donations and takings from the event and all the mugs sold in order to raise funds for LOROS. We will post again soon once we have the total number raised.

Thank you again, your support means the world to us

We would like to thank all of our customers that visited the cafe yesterday.

We were surprised by the overwhelming support and volume of visitors, and as such we may experience shortages of stock today on our final day of trading. In case we run out of our essential food items we might have to close up earlier than planned.

We hate to disappoint any of you who planned to visit us, but we will be glad to see all of you nonetheless and hope you understand.

Thank you

Hey everyone

The final weekend of opening is here!
A longtime friend (and previous employee) of the Cafe, Stan'ley' Samuel and his band have offered to put on a performance outside the cafe to celebrate the last day on Saturday 12th August. We will be open until 1pm as we plan to join the celebration once we have finished trading for the day.

We expect it to be a very busy day for us, so please be patient if our service is slower than usual. We hope to see you all for our final hurrah!

See you soon

Hello everybody

We have an exciting announcement to share with you all:

In order to commemorate the Cafe's legacy and raise further donations for the LOROS charity, we are selling 200 of our iconic logo-mugs for £5 each, all of which will be donated to LOROS. So make sure to drop by during our last two weeks of trading before the cafe closes for good on the 12th August.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by the cafe and offered their support so far.

Hello everyone

As the Cafe reaches it's 60th birthday on the 13th of August 2023 we have decided to take our long overdue retirement.

Because the plans to redevelop the arcade failed to reach a conclusion, selling our business was made impossible, so we have chosen to call it a day
and our final days of trading will be Friday & Saturday the 11th & 12th of August 2023.

As our final gesture as a business in the community of Leicester, we will be donating all of our takings from those days to the Leicester LOROS charity.

We would like to offer our thanks to everyone and all of the families who have supported us through the years.

We look forward to seeing all of you until we finally finish.

John, Bob & Becky

Season's greetings everyone!

We hope all you all are happy & healthy at this festive, yet hectic time of year.

Unfortunately we won't be able to open next week leading up to Christmas due to very short staffing and close family in need of care at this time.

We're sorry to disappoint our annual Christmas visitors & any regulars hoping to pop in, but this year we can't hope to manage it all.

We will be reopening from Friday the 30th of December, and hopefully be back to our usual speed.
Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.

We look forward to seeing you all as soon as possible and hope the best for you and yours.

Happy holidays and take care!

Hey again everybody.

We hope the latest sign in front of the cafe isn't too distressing for any of our customers.

We just wanted to inform our regulars that we are still here, while we continue to wait on the council to make a decision on whether we can hand over the business or not at all.

Once again we apologize for any inconvenience or distress caused. We had hoped for a better outcome that would ensure the cafe lived on in some way.

We will continue to update you all if we hear anything. Until then we will open for as long as we can manage, even in this uncertainty.

We look forward to seeing those of you who can still make it on Fridays and Saturdays. Thank you once again

Hi everyone,

We have an important announcement to make, and we would appreciate it if you can share this post and spread the message.

From next week (29th August) onwards the Café Rialto will only be open for business on Fridays and Saturdays.

Unfortunately we are having to shrink our trading hours due to an unwillingness from the council to cooperate with our plans to sell the business.

Last year in October, we (John, Becky and Bob) announced that we want to sell the Café and enjoy our retirement. We were able to find a buyer very quickly, and approached the council with our plan to sell, but the council have neglected to assist us due to a vague plan to "renovate the arcade" and dragged their feet on providing any updates.

After a year of inaction from their behalf the cafe has lost more and more employees and we are finding it increasingly harder to run the cafe with such few staff. Therefore, with regret we have chosen to reduce our open hours to what we can manage, until we have a solution on selling the business or until we can no longer run it ourselves and must close for good without a new owner.

We apologise if anyone finds this news distressing, and for any inconveniences caused by the change in our hours. We felt it was best to be open about our current situation, as we have always believed our customers are our friends and family and deserve our honesty.

Lastly we want to thank you all for supporting the Café for the last 59 years, and hope you continue to do so until the end.

Our sincerest gratitude,
John, Becky, Bob & The Rialto

Hello everyone!

We will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday this week to spend some time with visiting family and the new dog who just made his first ever visit to the Café!

The café will be open again on Friday 15th as usual.
Apologies for any inconvenience, we look forward to seeing you all soon!

Hey everyone!

We would like to offer our utmost thanks to everybody who came in to the Café during our fundraising week on the 9th to the 12th of March to raise money for the Ukrainian crisis. We were able to raise over 2 thousand pounds from your donations and the
business takings. With an extra contribution from the Café we were able to round up to total of £2500!

We submitted the cheque last month and have had confirmation that the donations arrived. Thank you so much for all your help. It means a great deal to us and we're sure it will for the people the money goes towards.

Our sincere gratitude,
- John, Becky, Bob & The Rialto Team
