The building is approximately 400 years old and has a lot of history. It has been known that George Davenport - the infamous highwayman - resided there when the building was trading as an inn. The name "Swatlands" originated from the previous owner, Michael Swatland, who had this building as an off-license and wine shop, for a number of years. e kept the name. The present owner of the restaurant - Kam Dawda - has been in the trade for approximately 15 years. He created the Spice of India restaurant in Syston and built up a fantastic reputation there. Now, based at Oadby, Swatlands has recently been awarded with the "Best Restaurant in Leicestershire" accolade. Kam has created a stunning menu at Swatlands to tantalise many people's taste-buds.
