How did we miss this?! 🦢❤️

How lovely to see Yeadon Tarn featured by The Pride of Britain Awards.

A huge well done to Maz Holmes and Steve Lacey, who were both involved in rescuing the baby swan.

Maz actually climbed into the bushes to get the little one out — getting cut in the process — before Steve helped free it and get it safely reunited.

It’s a shame the shorter clip doesn’t show the full rescue, because both deserve the recognition.

Open seven days a week — because a community pub should be there for its community. ❤️

There’s no guessing whether we’re open.

Our doors open at 12pm every single day — and so does our kitchen.

Because for us, being a community pub isn’t just about being open when it’s busy. It’s about being here when you fancy a bit of company, somewhere warm, a catch-up with friends, a meal, a pint, or simply somewhere familiar to go.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday… right through to Sunday, we’re here for you.

24 years ago today, Matt — aka Mr Bingate — was born.

A beautiful baby boy.

What went wrong after that remains under investigation. 😂

Somehow he’s made it to 24, which frankly says more about my resilience than it does about his decision-making.

Luckily for Yeadon, the original Bingate cast are in Windermere this weekend.

Unluckily for Windermere… they’re travelling as a group.

I can only apologise in advance to every pub, taxi driver, hotel receptionist and innocent member of the public who crosses their path.

As for me, after 24 years of stress, embarrassment, questionable choices and stories I can never unhear, I wouldn’t change him for the world.

He drives me absolutely insane, gives me grey hairs I definitely didn’t ask for, and regularly makes me question where I went wrong…

…but I love him more than he’ll ever know. ❤️

Happy 24th birthday, Matt.

Have the best weekend. Try not to get barred, arrested, lost, injured, escorted out of anywhere or end up on somebody’s page.

Well… if this isn’t a sign, we don’t know what is 🌈❤️

A rainbow right over the White Swan tonight — and it felt too lovely not to share.

They say there’s a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, but we don’t need one.

Ours is already here.

It’s in the people who walk through our doors, the friendships made over a drink, the families who choose to spend time with us, the local causes we’re able to support, the teams we get behind, and all those little moments that make a pub feel like so much more than just a pub.

Being independent means this place really is ours to shape around the community we’re part of — and we never take that for granted.

So no, we don’t need the pot of gold.

We’ve already found something far more valuable. ❤️

FROM A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS… TO A HOT MEAL ❤️

Following on from yesterday’s post, this is what Raj’s donation became.

Raj’s Random Act Pasta Bake — made in our kitchen and heading out with our meals for Hidden Homeless Leeds.

This is exactly the sort of thing we mean when we say we’re more than just a pub.

Because we’re independent, there’s no head office deciding where our support goes, no national campaign we’re told to back and no one controlling the purse strings from miles away.

We get to choose to support the people and causes around us.

That might be cooking meals for Hidden Homeless Leeds, helping a local fundraiser, sponsoring local sports teams, supporting community events or simply doing what we can when somebody nearby needs a hand.

And that matters to us.

As the nights draw in and the weather turns, please spare a thought for those less fortunate.

If you have any food you’d like to donate, and it’s something our chefs can turn into a dish, we’ll gratefully accept it and make sure it gets put to good use.

Sometimes a few ingredients, a bit of time and a little kindness can go a very long way.

We’re proudly independent. We support local.

We’re looking for two professional, experienced cleaners to join us at The White Swan, Yeadon.

The cleaning needs covering Monday to Sunday, so the days can be shared between the two successful applicants. Each shift is a couple of hours, and the cleaning can be done any time between 8am and 12 noon.

This is a role where you’ll be working on your own, so we need people who are confident using their own initiative, who notice what needs doing without being told, and who take genuine pride in leaving the pub properly clean and ready for the day ahead.

We’re looking for people with a proven track record in cleaning who are reliable, consistent and professional. The standard needs to be the same every day — not brilliant one day and rushed the next.

If you’re someone who likes things done properly, can be trusted to get on with the job and takes real pride in your work, we’d love to hear from you.

Two positions available • Days to be shared • Immediate start available

THIS is what community is all about ❤️

A few days ago, Georgina Turner kindly paid for someone’s coffee and croissant when their card declined.

Raj wanted to pay Georgina back, so left some money for her at the shop — but Georgina said there was no need.

So Raj went back, collected the money, added a bit extra and used it to buy food, which was then brought down to us at The White Swan.

We’ll now turn it into a meal for Hidden Homeless Leeds ❤️

One small act of kindness from Georgina has carried on, been passed forward by Raj, and will now help someone else too.

Huge thank you to Georgina for starting it, and to Raj for keeping that kindness going.

🦔 £250 RAISED FOR PRICKLY PIGS HEDGEHOGS 🦔

We don’t usually do a lot of fundraising at The White Swan, simply because there’s already so much fantastic fundraising going on in and around Yeadon.

But when we heard about little Honey and the work being done by Prickly Pigs Hedgehogs, we thought we’d try and raise some money to help.

Thanks to everyone who came along, bought raffle tickets, donated and supported the evening, we managed to raise a brilliant £250. ❤️

A big shout-out to our Mackenzie as well, who got in touch with local businesses and managed to pull together some brilliant raffle prizes for us. 💚
