🦔 Anyone who knows me knows I’ve got a real soft spot for hedgehogs.
Reading this has genuinely left me speechless.
This didn’t happen hundreds of miles away… it happened right here in Yeadon.
A poor little hedgehog was found in the Queensway area after someone had deliberately painted her blue.
Imagine how frightened and confused she must have been. Instead of wandering through our gardens on a warm summer’s evening, snuffling around looking for food, she was left unable to curl up because the paint had glued her spines together. She’s now suffering with breathing problems while the incredible team at Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue carefully remove the paint from every single spine.
💔 We’ve lost up to 75% of our rural hedgehogs over the last 25 years, and they’re now officially classed as vulnerable to extinction in the UK.
Can you imagine telling your children or grandchildren that these beautiful little creatures once wandered through our gardens at night… but they’ll never get to see one because we didn’t do enough to protect them?
If you know anything about who did this, however small it may seem, please do the right thing. This happened in the Queensway area of Yeadon, and someone knows something.
📞 Please contact West Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting crime reference 13260401913, or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers. If you’d rather not speak to the police directly, you’re also welcome to send us a private message and, with your permission, we’ll make sure the information is passed on.
❤️ If this story has touched your heart, please consider supporting Prickly Pigs Hedgehog Rescue. They rely entirely on donations to care for injured and vulnerable hedgehogs like this little girl, and every pound helps.
🦔 Let’s make sure future generations know hedgehogs because they’ve seen them wandering through their gardens… not because they’ve only read about them in books.
