Staff Pick of the Week with Will 🍺

Will’s gone for a bit of a classic this week, Cobra Premium L***r.

Originally created back in 1989, Cobra’s known for being a little smoother and less gassy than your usual l***r, with a light, refreshing taste that makes it a lovely easy drink.

At 4.5%, it’s a cracking bottled b**r if you fancy a change from your usual pint.

Will’s giving this one the thumbs up. Have you tried it? 🍻

Rich is taking you for a little wander down Kirkgate, the oldest (and in our opinion, best) street in Leeds 🍻

There’s a lot of history packed into this little stretch of the city, with independent pubs, bars, shops and businesses all doing their thing.

We’re pretty proud to call Kirkgate home, and even prouder to be part of the community that keeps it going.

Next time you’re in town, come have a wander and pop into Wapentake for a pint while you’re at it. You know where we are!

Rich has taken on an absolute behemoth of a lunch here 🍔

The Wap Burger swaps your standard burger bun for two homemade Yorkshire puddings, then piles in a beef chuck patty, cheddar and smoked bacon, with doorstop potato wedges and a jug of hot beef gravy for pouring over the lot.

It’s big, it’s messy and you’re probably going to need both hands.

Get stuck in, Rich. 🍻

Brian’s back in the kitchen, and this time it’s Eggs Royale 🍳

A locally baked English muffin, Scottish smoked salmon, two poached eggs and plenty of hollandaise over the top.

Freshly made to order and a very solid shout if you fancy something a bit different from the Full Yorkshire.

Breakfast at Wapentake, sorted. ☕️

We invited Ian and the family down to Wapentake to put our Sunday roast to the test 🍽️

Ian went straight for the Yorkshire lamb Henry special, with all the Sunday trimmings, and the kids got stuck in too.

The verdict? 10/10 all round. We’ll happily take that.

Sunday lunch at Wapentake. Bring the family, come hungry and we’ll sort the rest 🍻

Get a load of our breakfast 🍳

If you’re starting the day hungry, the Full Yorkshire should sort you out. Cumberland sausage, back bacon, black pudding, griddled tomato, two poached eggs, hash brown, Hendo’s baked beans and your choice of buttered toast or a Yorkshire pudding.

Or there’s our Eggs Benedict, with a locally baked English muffin, two poached eggs and hollandaise. Go Classic with grilled back bacon, Florentine with sautéed spinach, Royal with Scottish smoked salmon or Mushroom with roasted lemon & herb mushrooms.

Plenty on the plate, made fresh in the Wapentake kitchen and a bloody good reason to get yourself down to Kirkgate for breakfast. ☕️🍳

A lot of you don’t know we do takeaway coffee at Wapentake ☕️

Whatever your order, we’ve probably got you covered. Regular, oat, almond or soy milk, plus vanilla, caramel, gingerbread and, now Autumn’s here, pumpkin spice syrup too 🎃

And if coffee alone isn’t going to cut it, make it a coffee & cake for £6. Our cakes are made fresh in the Wapentake kitchen, with vegan and gluten-free options, and they change all the time.

Today’s is a gluten-free cherry chocolate brownie, which we reckon is a pretty good one to start with 🍒🍫

B**r of the week with Ellis 🍺

This week he’s gone for Virtuous from our neighbours at Kirkstall Brewery. A proper easy-drinking session IPA, plenty of citrus, nice bit of hoppiness and coming in at 4.5%.

A solid pint if you fancy something fresh and hoppy without knocking your socks off.

Give it a go next time you’re at Wapentake 🍻

Cam’s put Ellis to work on the new autumn/winter drinks 🍸🍂

The challenge is pretty simple… he picks the spirit, Ellis makes the cocktail.

First up, Orange & Bergamot Gin from Leeds lot

Now we’ll see what Ellis can do with it.

If it’s any good, it might just make it onto the bar. It’ll need a name though, so get your thinking caps on.

Cam’s got a new Sunday special to show you 👀

Lamb Henry, crispy roasties, parsnips, carrots, Brian’s famous cabbage with bits of bacon, proper lovely jus, all set on a bed of mash.

And yes, it’s absolutely banging.

It’s only here in limited numbers on Sundays for now… but could it become permanent? You never know…
