We're recruiting volunteers to join our friendly teams across both of our amazing cafés 💛

Our volunteers support adults with Down syndrome in their café roles, helping build confidence, independence, and valuable life skills. It’s a hands-on, rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You might be:
☕ Supporting with café tasks and customer service
🥪 Helping with food prep & barista coffee making
🧼 Keeping the space welcoming and running smoothly
🤝 Encouraging our team members to grow in confidence and independence

👀We’re looking for positive, supportive people who enjoy being part of a team and making a difference in their community. Training will be provided.

💙We are especially in need of someone who could support at on Wednesdays from 10:00am – 3:00pm, so if you'd like a meaningful way to spend your Wednesdays - we’d love to hear from you! 💙

Freya, Toby and the rest of our team were delighted, when two students from Leeds City College at Beeston called in to 21 Co. this week to deliver the £25.50 they raised for us by holding an Easter egg raffle! 💛💙

Behind the scenes - it's been a real team effort 💛

Lauren, Emma and the team have been working together to choose some delicious new products for sale in the café. Building confidence and independence along the way. 💪

Once the new stock arrived, Emma was busy getting it ready to put out on display in the café. 🍯

📣Join Our Team & Make a Positive Impact!

We’re currently recruiting volunteers and paid support workers to join our friendly teams at:

21 Co. (Headingley) ☕🍰
Café 21 at TCV Hollybush (Kirkstall) ☕🌻

About the Support Worker role 👉
You’ll be supporting adults with Down syndrome to carry out their roles within the café — helping them develop confidence, independence, and valuable skills.

This includes 👉
- One-to-one support with café tasks
- Food preparation & barista coffee making
- General café/shop duties
- Opening, closing & maintaining a welcoming space
- Supporting individuals to build their skills and independence

What We’re Looking For 👉
- Supportive, positive people who enjoy working as part of a team and helping others grow
- Someone flexible (including weekends & evenings where required)
- Someone who can build positive relationships with the people we support, their families, and our team.

Full training will be provided.

Various weekly shifts available, plus additional shifts to cover leave and illness across both cafés.

💷Paid roles are at National Living Wage (age dependent – see application form for details)

From small beginnings, big things grow. 🌱

☕ Here's our team doing their barista training with at their café in Garforth back in 2018.

We also did our food safety training with Café Leep / Leep 1 for our first, tiny Café 21 pop-up for World Down Syndrome Day. 💙💛

Since then, we’ve come a long way! 💛 21 Co. and now provide meaningful work experience and paid employment for people with Down syndrome, helping them gain vital skills and confidence for the future.

A huge thank you to CLO, who continue to supply us with great coffee and keep our teams up to date with training. Also to Leep 1, our incredible support staff, all the other amazing people who’ve helped us along the way, not forgetting our wonderful customers—your support makes everything possible! 🙏

We’re excited to now have Positive Futures candles for sale in the café! 🕯️

Futures Candle Co. is a social enterprise creating handcrafted, luxury, vegan, soy-blend candles with a purpose. They provide meaningful work opportunities for people who are neurodiverse and/or have learning disabilities.

A big thank you to Sophie from Positive Futures for delivering the candles, and to our team member Louise for welcoming them into the café.

Just in time for Mother’s Day this Sunday, these beautiful candles make a thoughtful gift — and by choosing one, you’re supporting Positive Futures, 21 Co., and our charity,
