GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS

BAD NEWS FIRST

Ok… So we’ve just done our first two weeks at Trinity Kitchen and unfortunately I’m pretty gutted to say that the Singaporean menu hasn’t worked. I’m really happy with how all the food tastes and looks and everyone who has come down to try it has had nothing but nice things to say. Quite a few have even said it’s the best food they’ve had at TK!

Unfortunately though this isn’t enough. The rent is very high and all the other costs involved in this residency mean I have to sell a lot of food to breakeven and I’m sorry to say thats just not happening.

Im not beating myself up about this though… You cant get it right all the time and I put it down it just not being the right place for this kind of food.

GOOD NEWS

So… Ive decided to do a bit of a pivot and change to doing what, after all, we are most known for. KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN!

The menu (swipe left to check it out) will simply shine a light on our signature dish and offer some great value lunchtime deals and few sides to boot. We’ll also of course be offering Everything Plantbase’s delicious seitan for the veggies!

SAD NEWS

Unfortunately I’ve had to make the difficult decision to leave Melodie_71 at the end of the month. Personal circumstances mean it’s no longer viable for me and with my Trinity Kitchen residency coming up next month I need to focus on one thing at a time…

My time at Melodie has been the happiest of my working life and I want to thank Ricky, Shaun, Marko and Tony for having me on board for the last 2 years.

There’s a few weeks until I leave so if you need to squeeze in some more fried chicken or one final steak night then there’s still time!

**I am away for my birthday 15-19 July so we have an exciting kitchen takeover happening that week. More news on that later in the week!

It’s going to be hard to say goodbye!!

And as a bonus whilst you’re here why not try our homemade pickles!? Mini cucumbers lightly pickled with shallot, dill and mustard seeds. Apparently they go great with a beer…

NEW ICE CREAM!!

Very excited to now be stocking ice cream and sorbet from on our new menu at just in time for summer 😋

From their shop in the corn exchange this lovely couple have been slinging small batch ice cream and sorbet in so many amazing flavours for just under 2 years.

From next week we’ll have their yummy matcha ice cream and vegan satsuma sorbet and will be changing the flavours as often as we can.

If you’re in town on a warm day and need a cooler get down to see them on the lower floor at the corn exchange!

HOI POLLOI @ TRINITY KITCHEN

Very excited to share that I’ll be at this summer for the very first time!

I’ve had to think of a totally new idea for this residency to fit in with what’s already there and after eating my heart out in Singapore in November I’ve dreamt up LAH!

Taking inspo from all the hawker centres I managed to get to I’ll be serving Haianese chicken rice, which is very hard to find in Leeds, alongside Nasi Lemak, lots of Satay and Kaya Toast, all of which I munched in bulk whilst I was away 🫶🏼

I’ll be there for 9 weeks starting July 27th and I really hope you can come down and try it 😁
