Traditional English pub serving homemade food and real ales. In the summer you can enjoy a cold drink in the picturesque beer garden or in winter cosy up next to the roaring open fires. The Chequers Inn is truly one of England's old traditional Inns with an history that can be traced back to 1540. Toby jugs and all manner of antiques adorn walls and ceilings in this busy olde-worlde environment, w

ith its low beams and cosy alcoves, or you may wish to sit on the terrace amongst the hanging baskets and flowers. Serving ales such as Timothy Taylors Landlord, Theakstons Best and Dark Smooth, Ledsham Sessions (by the Brown Cow Brewery), John Smiths and Leeds Best. Wines by the glass include Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Merlot and a comprehensive wine list. Food served includes snacks and sandwiches, starters main courses, desserts and coffees- all made on the premises by chef David Siddall. Food served Monday-Saturday 12noon-9pm and 12noon-6pm Sundays. We also have a separate restaurant and marquee where we can offer weddings, functions and business meetings/lunches- please email or call Chris to book or enquire.

And just like that, the last Bank Holiday of the summer is done… ☀️🍻

A few photos of some of the lovely food that came out of our little kitchen over the weekend.

A massive thank you to everyone who came down, ate, drank and spent part of their Bank Holiday with us. It was great to see so many familiar faces — and plenty of new ones too. ❤️

A little reminder that our kitchen (and our team!) is small, so there’s only so much we can do at once. If you’re hoping to eat with us, particularly at weekends, please do book ahead where you can. It really helps us make sure we can look after everyone properly.

It feels like we’re starting to say goodbye to summer now… but we’re not too sad about it. 🍂

There’s something rather nice about what comes next — cooler evenings, changing menus, seasonal produce, fires lit again and plenty more happening at The Chequers.

Thanks for a cracking summer Bank Holiday.

Rounding out another week of scorchers with a slightly breezier Sunday lunch! 🥵🪭🌤️Top work from the chefs as standard and we're straight into another busy week, we want as many of you to join us as possible so please book ahead for cosier days inside with the predicted change in weather! In other news, thanks to some tech-tinkering by the chief of the chequers elves, our website is now working correctly, so while we're aware it's by now mythical 'under construction' message was incredibly frustrating, you can now see menus and reservations and hopefully some pictures and further content once the tinkering is complete! A proper Yorkshire Day. ☀️🍻

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and celebrated with us. From the sunshine and live music to the fantastic food and great company, it really was one to remember.

Seeing the pub and garden full from open until close reminded us exactly why we love days like these. Bringing people together is what it’s all about, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support from our wonderful local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – whether you stopped by for lunch, dinner or just a drink, it's always a pleasure to welcome you.

We're looking forward to another busy week ahead and can't wait to do it all again. Don't forget, our Yorkshire Day celebrations are taking place this coming Saturday, and we hope to see plenty of familiar faces (and some new ones too!) for a great day of food, drinks and good company.

Massive late night thank you for today! Our first bottomless brunch will go down as a resounding success! 🇮🇹🍽️🥂 being the first time we've done something like this, today was a little bit of gamble for us, but the sun was out and as usual our guests were on form, huge thanks for everyone's kind words and encouragement, but we save an extra thank you for our amazing staff, this weeks weather has been tough 🥵🌞 but we turned up and delivered a great day. Amazing work from our chefs who not only turned out some amazing Italian brunch dishes but a full days worth of excellent specials and regular dishes. We're off for well earned pint and to watch the footie ⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 but we'll be back behind the stick from 12pm tomorrow for Sunday lunch. Bring on next week! ✌️🍺🍻🍷🍸
