Well... Does this village know how to celebrate and support?? My god do we!!!

Tomorrow marks 8 years since we became a community owned pub.
Community Owned! That's pretty special. And back then what we wanted to achieve was of cause to be a successfully ran business. But most of all we wanted to be the roots and the hub to our community.

Yesterday we hosted our yearly summer BBQ but this year with the aim to help raise money to get a village girl to the Scouts World Jamboree in Poland next year.
We had some great fun with games going on throughout the afternoon all ran by Leasingham Scouts members and leaders. I think the highlight game was the Human Fruit machine which entertained participants and scouts every time someone pulled the lever!!!
Clearly the main even of the day though was "soak the manager" the dunk machine alone raised around £400!!! (And there was me thinking you lot liked me!! 😂)

All in all a fantastic day with over £1100 raised. (I will await the final total today)

Special thanks must go to the Duke Maintenance Team, who when asked a silly question always are happy to help, mend and build anything we might deam mad enough for some fun!!
Thank you to Leasingham Scouts for giving up your time and manning the games, and to Emma, Steve and of course Mimi the reason for all the mad games.
The staff team who like always worked endlessly servicing drinks and food from the BBQ, plus even taking the chance to soak me as well!!

But also thank you to everyone who came yesterday, donated and supported us. Just goes to show we are more then just a pub!!! We really are the hub of this village and community.

Here to many more years of The Duke of Wellington!! 🥂 🍻 🎉

Are you coming tomorrow????

Help us celebrate 8 years of being Community Owned and raising money for a local girl to go to the World Jamboree in Poland!!!

Games start at 3pm, BBQ starts at 4pm.

Splat the rat, hook a duck, hoopla, human fruit machine and the Duke Drencher!!! Can you hit the target? Do you want to soak Katie your beloved bar manager?? Of course you do!!!! We will see you there.

Family fun, great atmosphere, good food... What more could you want!!
