What do Japanese people drink in summer? ☀️

Definitely mugicha (barley tea)! 🌾

It’s the ultimate Japanese summer drink, and you’ll find a jug of it in the fridge in most Japanese households throughout the summer.

Mugicha has a wonderfully comforting, nostalgic flavour that brings back childhood summer memories for many Japanese people.

Why do we love it?

✨ Naturally caffeine-free
✨ Great for staying hydrated
✨ May aid digestion
✨ Rich in antioxidants
✨ May help support healthy blood circulation
✨ May help protect cells from oxidative stress and inflammation

We’re serving mugicha throughout the summer at Nana’s Japanese.

Come and discover Japan’s favourite summer tea! 🎐

🎋 What are you wishing for this Tanabata?

Today is Tanabata (the Star Festival), a traditional Japanese celebration held on the 7th of July.
According to the Chinese legend, two lovers, Orihime(Vega) and Hikoboshi(Altair), are separated by the Milky Way and are allowed to meet just once a year—if the skies are clear.

In Japan, people write their wishes on colourful strips of paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches, hoping their dreams will come true.

✨ As for my wish…
Rather than wishing for something new, I hope to keep a heart full of gratitude.
To appreciate every person I meet, every experience, and every blessing in my life.

I hope Orihime and Hikoboshi found each other tonight, and that your wishes find their way to the stars too. 🌌✨

✨ 私の願いは…
何かを手に入れることよりも、これからも神恩感謝の気持ちを忘れずに過ごすことです。
