Once upon a time, 15 years ago, The Prom Café opened its doors.
Thankfully, most days since, there’s been plenty of laughter.
For 15 years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming you through our doors — although many may not realise exactly where those doors are.
We sit at the end of a beautiful Victorian promenade, in one of the oldest inhabited places on the island of Ireland, tucked into Waterloo Bay sits one of the most significant fossil coastlines in the world. But sure, it's only Larne!
The Prom Café began with a simple idea: great food, great views, great staff and great customer service.
Louise, hailing from hospitality royalty and known by many from thon days at The Highways Hotel, brought her experience, passion and high standards to the Prom — and 15 years later, those same values are still at the heart of everything we do.
Of course, no café is just bricks, tables and coffee machines.
The real heart of The Prom Café has always been its people.
We’ve been backed by a mighty army of staff over the years. A few have been with us from the very beginning and have seen every one of those 15 years.
For many others, The Prom Café has been their very first job — and we’re incredibly proud to have been part of their life too.
And then there’s YOU.
Our customers.
The caffeine seekers.
The fry fanatics.
The Christmas chip crew.
The ones who come for the view.
The ones who come for the chat.
And, of course, the ones who know exactly what they’re having before they even walk through the door, taking their favourite seat in their office.
Over 15 years, we’ve shared so much more than food and coffee.
We’ve heard the news of new babies. We’ve served wedding morning fry-ups. We’ve celebrated team wins, good news and special occasions. We’ve shared sad news too.
We’ve laughed together, chatted about everything and nothing, and watched friendships and families grow.
That’s what makes this place so special.
It is an honour to see so many familiar faces every day and to welcome new ones through the door. We never take for granted that you choose to spend a little part of your day or every day with us.
