Ahh...cupcake days at Taste Cumbria 2017 before the total brownie takeover! 😍

A throwback to 2017 at Taste Cumbria Cockermouth...we'll be back tomorrow on Main St. minus the cupcakes! Mrs JB's will be in action too just keeping me in check 😜😍

OOhhhh!!

Hi everyone, I've been pondering whether to share this with you and have decided I should! Could be a long one so you might need a brownie ;)

After Mr JB's was escorted out of a local Aldi supermarket a few weeks ago (for buying some of our ingredients) and told he wasn't welcome again, we have had to change our shopping and suppliers.

Said supermarket HO has said that the manager of each branch can decide who he serves and who he doesn't and this one in particular has banned all businesses from the area shopping in his supermarket!

Initially this left me in a panic and a mini break down and giving up brownies and getting a 'proper' job, but I had a word with myself and went about sorting the problem out.

A little history - when the brownies were born I tried a LOT of different chocolate in them and we were told by you and we thought so too that one chocolate stood out. We have used this chocolate up until last month.

So although we were told we could shop at the same supermarket elsewhere, I was a little annoyed and if you know me then you'll know ;) and we decided to give our hard earned money to someone else. So we have gradually swapped our chocolate over.

When we tried the first batch I was nervous but blimey, I couldn't stop eating them!!! I couldn't understand how this could be after our experiments in the beginning of brownie time, but I realised that over the last twelve years the said supermarket has changed it's chocolate ingredients a few times.

So after a few tries and more yummy experiments we have changed chocolate and our baking technique to match this (who knew!!) and what has emerged is IMO a better brownie and blondie!!

We have also changed some of our other ingredients but generally they are all the same but just a different name. The chocolate was the big thing.

The initial mini breakdown has actually been to our advantage (taste not money wise) but I'm happy to bring even better brownies out the other side of it!

This weekend find Team Brownies at Taste Cumbria in sunny Cockermouth with heaps of brownies, blondies and brownie puddings! This is a fab free event for all the family and dogs too.

Team Brownies are back where it all started for them at Clitheroe Food Festival in the bullring tomorrow with heaps of their amazing homebaked treats! 😍☀️👌🏻

Jeni's Brownies is shut from the 8th August for a week for a make over!!

🍫 Brownie HQ is having a little makeover! 🎨

Just a quick update to let you all know that Brownie HQ will be closed from Saturday 8th August for one week while we freshen things up with a spot of decorating.

That means there'll be no baking or dispatching during that week, but don't worry—we'll be back as soon as the paint has dried and the chocolate is flowing again! 🍫✨

Before we close, come and see us this Saturday at the Clitheroe Food Festival! We'd love to see you, whether you're stocking up on your favourite brownies, trying a new flavour, or just popping by for a chat.

If you've been planning to order online, don't leave it too long, as we'll be taking a short baking break before returning with a freshly decorated Brownie HQ and lots more delicious brownies.
