It is Toms wish to go to a full-time college from the age of 18. But not only that, a 24-7 college in the form of Foxes Academy in Minehead. A working hotel that gives all of its special needs residential students, gaining experience as staff, the opportunity to learn a trade in catering and hospitality with the hope they will have full time careers and become 'tax-payers' not 'tax burdens' and mo
re importantly a sense of self worth. In order to get Tom on the course comes at a huge financial cost however, so here lies the brainchild of 'Toms Yard'. Whilst we have yet another huge battle with the local authority to convince them that Foxes is the best place for Tom to be educated, we are going to start raising funds for this to happen. In my line of work I come across a lot of things in gardens that customers no longer want. As well as my dislike for throwing things away, filling waste skips unnecessarily and the ever diminishing space in landfill sites, I've spotted an opportunity to upcycle these items to help fund Toms education and future career in catering.
