‼️ 60 YEARS IN BUSINESS ‼️
Over the last few months we’ve dropped a few hints that this year is a very special one for us… Gerry’s Fast Food is celebrating 60 years in business! ❤️
Sixty years ago, Gerry and Anne left their small town in Italy with a dream and made Kirkintilloch their home. They opened the doors to what would become much more than a chip shop – it became a place built on hard work, kindness, laughter, friendships and family.
Over the years they raised Franco and Louisa around the business, and one of the greatest joys of their lives was seeing them grow up and work alongside them. Eventually, Franco took over the reins, carrying on everything his mum and dad worked so hard to build.
Since then, Franco has welcomed generations of staff through the doors. To many of us, he has become far more than a boss – he’s been a mentor, a father figure, a friend and someone who genuinely cares about every person who has ever worked here (even if he’ll never admit it! 🤣).
Over six decades we’ve seen friendships turn into marriages, colleagues become family, and children of former staff come back to work behind the same counter. That’s what Gerry’s has always been about – family, community and looking after people.
We’ve always been proud to stay true to our roots while supporting our local community. Giving young people their first job, believing in them, and watching them grow has always been one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Not excluding the older generation too 😉.
So, whether you worked here for five shifts or five years, thank you. Every single person who has worn a Gerry’s apron has played a part in our story, and we honestly couldn’t have reached this incredible milestone without you. You will always be part of the Gerry’s family. ❤️
To celebrate our 60th anniversary, we’ve decided to do something completely new and enter the Scottish Fish & Chip Awards 2026! 🎉

You’re the heart of this shop. The leader, the role model, the constant presence through every challenge and every success. People like you are incredibly rare, and every one of us knows how lucky we are to work alongside you. You’re not just our boss, you’re one of our best friends.
Here’s to the next chapter of Gerry’s, and here’s to the people who made the last 60 years so special.
