300 metres from the finish line, we almost lost our son.
One year later, he crossed it. ❤️

This is a story about our son, Rishant. We are sharing it not only because we are proud parents, but because we hope it may give someone else the courage to never give up.

On 7th September 2025, Rishant was running the London half Marathon. He had almost completed the entire 13 miles when, just 300 metres from the finish line, he suddenly collapsed.

His heart stopped. He stopped breathing.

As parents, there are no words to describe what we felt at that moment.

Thankfully, the paramedics arrived immediately and began treating him before rushing him to hospital. By the grace of God, he regained consciousness.

The doctors told us that he had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. They told us how incredibly lucky he was to receive treatment so quickly — it saved his life.

He later underwent surgery to reduce the risk of it happening again.

The months that followed were not easy. He slowly returned to his normal daily life, but he was told he could not exercise for at least six months.

But Rishant had already made up his mind.

He was going to run again.

After six months, he started slowly — going to the gym, rebuilding his strength and fitness, and working towards the goal he had never given up on.

And then came 6th September 2026.

Exactly one year after collapsing just 300 metres from the finish line, Rishant stood at the start of the London half Marathon once again.

And this time…

HE CROSSED THE FINISH LINE. ❤️🏃‍♂️

Healthy. Strong. Determined.

As parents, we cannot explain the emotions we felt watching him finish that race. There were tears, there was relief, and there was an enormous amount of pride.

We were both born and brought up in Nepal, and the recent flash floods and the loss of so many lives have broken our hearts. In the middle of that sadness, Rishant gave us something to smile about today.

As parents and struggling business owners, his journey has also reminded us that difficult times do not mean we should give up.

Rishant said something to us that we will never forget:

“GIVING UP IS NOT IN THE BLOOD, PARENTS.”

Those words will stay with us forever.

Today, we thank God for giving us this moment. 🙏
We thank the paramedics and doctors who saved our son.
And most of all, we thank Rishant for reminding us what courage, determination and hope look like.

We are the proudest parents in the world today. ❤️❤️❤️

If you are going through a difficult time, we hope Rishant’s story reminds you:

Don’t give up.
Keep believing.
Keep moving forward.
Your finish line may be closer than you think. ❤️
