Oh how we miss those lovely breakfasts by the sea! 🌅☕
I took this one during the changeover – hard work but such happy memories.
We miss Torcross so much… our wonderful café customers, and the joy of welcoming guests up to the apartment above. 💙🏠✨

This is the last calls for Slapton Line Questions.

We've had a good response. If you have questions about what is going on with repairing the A379 and associated initiatives such as improving the inland roads please get in touch. We will take questions until Wednesday 2 September. After that we will consolidate the questions we have received into a list covering peoples main concerns and then seek to get these questions answered.

The best way to ask your questions is by email to [email protected]. Alternatively, you can contact us through social media.

Please spread the word and make sure that your friends and neighbours know about this initiative.

We will aim to answer your questions by the end of the month.

September is the start of walking season in Torcross! Here are five to add to your list:

1. Torcross to StartPoint along the South West Coast Path, with the ruins of old Hallsands on the way.

2. The Slapton Sands shingle walk, Torcross to Strete Gate, sea on one side, the Ley on the other the whole way.

3. For a shorter version of the above, park at the middle car park and walk along to Torcross.

4. A loop around Slapton Ley Nature Reserve, reedbeds, bird hides, and a good chance of spotting some wildlife if you are patient.

5. Start Point Lighthouse, a proper coastal walk with views over the Skerries reef and the whole sweep of Start Bay.

Lace up, grab a flask, and we’ll see you out there. Maybe even stop for a bite to eat or a drink along the way in Torcross 🫶

Did you know the view from your table at the Boathouse spans two completely different worlds 🌊🦆

On one side, Start Bay, where seals and dolphins are regular visitors, often spotted just offshore at sunrise or sunset. On the other, Slapton Ley, the largest natural freshwater lake in the South West, and a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest. It’s been a National Nature Reserve since 1993, home to otters, bitterns, and the unmistakable song of the Cetti’s warbler, plus visiting wildfowl all year round.

Two worlds, separated by a few metres of shingle. Bring your binoculars next time you visit Torcross , you never know what you’ll spot 😉

Cassandra has been on multiple retreats with us, and we can't wait to welcome her back this Autumn on our flagship 'Roam & Release' Autumn Equinox retreat with her equally awesome friend Nicky. They always book early and nab the Twin ensuite room at The Old Bakehouse, just second from the ocean, and with views across the nature reserve.

Congrats to Cassandra, who told me just today during my weekly online class she joins, that she just completed 15 days of solid hiking - on the epic Coast to Coast walk.
