Honestly it’s emotional to be writing and creating this post as the past 4 weeks have been off the scale crazy for us 🥹 It’s a long one so bear with….
We said yes to something that we wasn’t completely sure we could pull off. Hearing the words of Sir Richard Branson echoing in our ears we said ‘screw it, let’s do it’ 😳
We turned up with an oven, ingredients, gazebo and tables and managed to serve endless amounts of pizza to hungry football fans at The Rathskeller who were showing every England World Cup match on their gigantic screen in the car park.
We learned lessons along the way, streamlined our skills, had many runs back to our shop to top up when we were selling out, had many late nights/early mornings (John getting home at 6am for the infamous earlier morning kick off only to be out the door 4 hours later for a 3 hour trip to Cheltenham was just testament to his dedication!) and all the while we managed to keep the shop open (except on 1 occasion).
The laughs have been endless and the support from customers blew us away 🙏
We’ve had so much fun cooking outdoors, the atmosphere was off the scale, the staff at The Rathskeller kept us hydrated in the heat and we managed to keep them fed 🍻🍕
Thank you to all the staff and security there for making us feel welcome and looking after us. But most importantly thank you to our own staff and family that kept the shop open, and the pop up running smoothly 🤗
We’ve truly have had a blast. We are so sad that it’s come to an end, and if we are honest we are not just mourning England’s defeat, but the end of something incredible that we created in such a short amount of time. Just like child birth, we’ve already forgotten the pain and stress so maybe we should do more?
