A massive thank you to each and every person who has walked through our doors over the past 5 years!! May we wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and all best wishes for 2024!!

The team had a lovely final supper last week; where we each shared memories/laughs of our favourite customers/moments/mess up’s /disasters etc.

I think it goes without saying that each and every member of the team shall sincerely miss all the over the counter banters at The Sugar Cube - it grew to become a sanctuary, a social place, a place for multi generations of families to gather, (a dog walking rest stop for treats!); and we are so acutely aware that, we became a feature in many of your children’s growing up memories. Please trust us, that we shall miss each of your interactions as much as you may miss us.

THANK YOU ALL!! ‘Thanks’ doesn’t even begin to cover my gratitude and emotions for the past nearly 5 years of The Sugar Cube - it has been an absolute blast & such a joy; I have genuinely enjoyed every single moment of serving up sweet treats to the community and beyond.

Whilst I am forever grateful to our customers, so many of whom have been so loyal and regular - and we genuinely couldn’t have gotten through the tougher/leaner times without you (I shall be forever grateful for that support, and never forget it); my greatest appreciation upon our closing is for The Sugar Cube team - both past and present!

If I am being entirely honest; in the years to come, when I look back fondly upon my Sugar Cube years, it shall be the young team that spring foremost to my thoughts; from the ‘OG’s’ as they liked to be affectionately known (those that started with me back at Morris Equestrian Centre) where we first opened, to the team to date; and ALL those in between - those behind the counter, shall forever give me the greatest sense of pride! Watching them blossom from teenagers in to young adults, and gaining such confidence and skills from working in the shop, shall forever be my highlight of The Sugar Cube. I simply can’t thank each and every one of our team members throughout the years enough; each have always been the true heartbeat of the shop, and I am so grateful to each and every one of them!

To our very loyal customer base, I say THANK YOU!! Not only for the amazing custom we have enjoyed throughout nearly 5 years; but mostly for the banter, chats and very genuine friendships that have been formed over that counter! I shall most definitely miss all the chats and giggles.

From the kids that have drawn me pictures, those that have written good wishes letters and cards, and those that have sent flowers and gifts, I honestly have no words for how grateful & humbled I am!! Not for the gifts/cards/flowers etc themselves - but to know just how much The Sugar Cube has meant to each of you; that is something I shall never forget - and shall always give me such a huge sense of pride.

‼️ The Sugar Cube shall be CLOSING DOWN before Xmas ‼️

As much as I have absolutely loved every single moment of serving up Sweet Treats to the local community and beyond, over the past nearly 5 years; I am quite simply at an age and stage in life, where I feel it is time for me to slow down a bit, and prioritise time with my family.

I finalised this decision during my recent holiday; where with a long awaited step back from the business, and the opportunity to finally relax; I realised just what a sacrifice the shop has taken on my time, family & social life and general well being over the past nearly 5 years. (As a sole trader, there are so very many unseen working hours well beyond any trading hours!)

My greatest concern/priority in reaching such a decision, was for my amazing wee team! However, with huge thanks to local employer The Mill House (who literally met with each member of our team within 48 hours of my first approaching them, when I returned from holiday); I am delighted to advise that each and every member of our service team have already now secured new jobs with The Mill House; with staggered start dates over the next few weeks. Each member of the team shall remain with us right up until they start their new jobs.

I honestly can’t thank each of you enough for your support and loyalty over the years. From first opening back at Morris in March 2019, to our move to current Stewarton premises in August of that year, there are so very many of you that have stuck with us each and every step of the way - through the dreaded Covid years and beyond; and I quite simply could not be more grateful! So very VERY many of you have since become friends, more than customers, and I am going to sincerely miss all the over the counter chats and banter when we ultimately close!

I do hope that whether you are normally a ‘Summer/Good Weather only’ customer, or one of our many ‘weekly regulars’, that you shall pop in and say goodbye before we close (whether purchasing or not - it would just be genuinely really lovely to see you all, and say goodbye before we finally close the doors!)

I have attached some further info to this post in the comments, which I hope shall answer any questions which many of you are likely to have; but shall be happy to answer any further queries which I may not have covered.

LAST CHANCE FOR HALLOWEEN SWEETIES!

A gentle reminder that today’s 2pm - 9pm trading shall be the last chance to grab any last minute Halloween goodies or gifts, as we are then closed until Thursday.

We do still have a good selection of both gifts and single items on display, but now can’t replenish items as they sell out since we are now out of the Halloween sweets. (We can however still accommodate special requests in any of our Halloween packagings, ie Vegan/Halal/Dairy Free/Gluten Free sweets etc)
