The past few weeks have flown by in the blink of an eye and now it's time to say an emotional farewell and turn the restaurant lights off one last time.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Smugglers Table Restaurant over the past 11 years.

You have celebrated every imaginable occasion with us, and joined us as we hosted New Year's Eve dinners, charity events, and anniversary menus.

You supported our take away service during lock down and came back in force when we were allowed to re-open, and you cannot imagine how much that meant to us during such uncertain times.

There were days when we possibly spent as much time looking at holiday photos and chatting as we did in the kitchen, but that's what has made this restaurant such an great experience.

Getting to know you all and seeing you enjoy your time with us has been the best part of our time in Bridge Street, we thank you all for that.

We have made so many friends along this journey and none more so than the people we have had the privilege to work alongside.

Some staff have come in for a couple of years and moved on, some have stayed for the duration. All have worked hard, but my goodness the laughs we have had!

These people are family now!!

So many friends made, and a few lost along the way. These faces won't be forgotten when we lock the door for the last time, they're in our hearts and we will carry the memories of them enjoying time in the restaurant with us, forever.

Now all we can do is thank Mervyn and Lois for giving us the opportunity to run the restaurant at the Smugglers Table over the past years and wish them and the rest of the bar staff a busy and prosperous 2026.

It was lovely to have Killyleagh Friendship Club for Christmas dinner yesterday afternoon. Santa arrived to see who was on his naughty or nice list 🎅.

The time has come...

Just over 11 years ago an opportunity arose and a new team moved in to run the restaurant at the Smugglers Table.

During those years we have met the most loyal customers and staff, and so many of you have become our friends.

As most of you know, our lives changed with the arrival of our beautiful daughter two years ago and we now feel that as she grows and her needs change, the late nights no longer work alongside our family.

The decision for us to step away from the Smugglers Table Restaurant has been a difficult one, we will miss seeing you all so very much, however we hope you can understand our reasons.

We want to stay in Killyleagh, it's very much our home now, and we hope we can continue to see some of you around the town.

We aren't going to sit with our feet up, but as we move forward we will find something that works better for the parents of a little girl who needs us to read her bedtime stories.

Sunday 28th December will be an emotional final day for us at the Smugglers and we hope to see some of you before then. If you have a voucher for the restaurant it will need to be used before that Sunday.

Thanks again for 11 wonderful years, we will never forget your loyalty, and the friendships made will last a lifetime.
