⚠️ Kitchen Closure Update ⚠️

Due to the current weather warning and extreme heat, our kitchen will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

🍻 The bar will remain open as normal, and we’d love to see you for a drink. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding with our bar team as they work through the heatwave conditions and do their best to look after everyone.

We’re pleased to confirm that the kitchen will reopen as usual on Friday from 12:00pm, and we’ll be back to serving our full menu.

🧶 Knitting Club Update! 🧶

We’re delighted to share that the Kewstoke Knit & Natter group has made its first delivery of twiddle muffs, cuffs and blankets to Weston General Hospital. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, skills and donations so far.

As demand continues to grow, we’re looking for donations of items that can be added to our twiddle projects. If you have any suitable embellishments, sensory items, ribbons, textured fabrics or other bits and pieces that could be sewn onto twiddle muffs, cuffs or blankets, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re also looking for soft materials to line the items and make them even more comfortable for patients. Baby blankets, fleece throws, soft fleece fabric and similar materials are ideal.

If you’d like to donate materials or find out more about helping with the project, please contact us or drop donations into The New Inn.

🧶 Knit & Natter at The New Inn 🧶

Every Thursday, we’re delighted to host the Kewstoke Knit & Natter group in our side room from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.

This year, the group is focusing on creating twiddle muffs, twiddle cuffs, twiddle blankets and twiddle cannula covers for patients at Weston General Hospital. Demand is growing, and we’d love to help recruit more knitters and crocheters to support this fantastic local cause.

Whether you’re an experienced crafter or a complete beginner, you’re very welcome to join us. Wool packs, patterns, knitting needles and crochet hooks are available, so you can get involved straight away.

Can’t make it to the weekly sessions? We also have take-home packs available. Twiddle items are simple to make, with many patterns using basic knit and purl stitches or double crochet. We have plenty of embellishments, but donations of ribbons, buttons and other suitable decorative items are always appreciated.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated wool, needles, hooks, ribbons and completed twiddle items. If you have any spare wool or craft supplies you’d like to donate, please drop them off at The New Inn or Sand Bay Fish & Chips and Cosy Café.

If you’d like to help but can’t attend in person, get in touch with Linda Farrell and we’ll arrange a pack for you, or simply pop along to one of our Thursday Knit & Natter sessions.

Together, we’re making a real difference for local patients. 💙

Village pubs like ours are more than somewhere to enjoy a pint. We’re a meeting place, a place to celebrate, support local jobs, and bring our community together.

But running an independent pub is becoming increasingly difficult. Rising costs continue to put huge pressure on pubs across the country.

That’s why we’re supporting the VAT’s The Problem campaign, which is calling on the Government to reduce VAT for hospitality businesses from 20% to 10%.

A lower VAT rate would help pubs, cafés, restaurants and hotels invest more in their businesses, protect jobs, and keep serving the communities that rely on them.

If you’d like to support your local pub and the wider hospitality industry, please take a moment to sign the petition.
