The Pig & Waffle at Grafton Underwood is a Greedy Gordons Bistro, farm shop and food destination built around exceptional produce, expert knowledge and genuine hospitality It is now part of the award winning Greedy Gordons Group (run by Head Chef Richard Gordon and business partner Sonya Harvey) and is a big celebration of the ever popular brunch. The Pig & Waffle opens it’s doors from 10am Monday

to Saturday - offering freshly squeezed orange juice, locally sourced bacon and sausages, eggs benedict (from local free range eggs), perfect steak & eggs and delicious fresh croissants and pastries, baked locally. Evenings are equally relaxed with beers, wines & cocktails to accompany a world tapas menu. It’s the perfect place to unwind and meet with friends or family (or even for a treat on your own!). There are evening offers and specials on most weeks so keep an eye on the website. As well as family and dog friendly, The Pig & Waffle is walker and cyclist friendly too (it’s wonderful cycling and walking country in the undulating surrounds). There are various ‘cakes and shakes’ on offer for those with a sweet tooth and also the delicious Riverside Dairy Ice Cream from Olney (made with milk from their own herd of cows!) – wonderful on those hazy hot summer days - or just becauseNext time you’re passing (and even if you are not) come to The Pig & Waffle and there will always be delicious food, cool drinks and a relaxed welcome with a smile to great you. From creamy Brie and Perl Wen to cave-aged Pecorino, Lincolnshire Poacher, Keens Cheddar, Gorgonzola and Shropshire Blue, our artisan cheese counter is looking rather spectacular this weekend. 🧀✨

A glimpse into Grafton Underwood’s past 🏡

A dear old friendTeresa recently shared this wonderful newspaper clipping from the late 1980s, featuring Grafton Underwood long before many of us knew it as The Pig & Waffle.

The article describes the village as a place with “no pub – and a parish meeting once a year”, a peaceful community of just over 100 residents where tranquillity was the main attraction. One resident is quoted as saying there was little entertainment, no village shop, and the former Duke’s Head pub had become a private home.

Fast forward to today, and the building at 31 Grafton Road has become a thriving community hub once again as The Pig & Waffle – bringing people together over great food, coffee, and conversation in the heart of the village.

What makes this clipping even more special is that Teresa’s friends’ parents once ran the building during an earlier chapter of its history, helping to keep the spirit of hospitality alive in Grafton Underwood long before it became The Pig & Waffle.

It’s amazing to think that a place once celebrated for having no pub is now home to one of Northamptonshire’s best-loved destinations. Sometimes history comes full circle. ❤️
