After a day out in the Lake District, nothing beats getting back into town, finding a local pub and sitting down with a drink in hand and food on order. We’re open daily from 12noon and ready for tired walkers, muddy boots, locals, shoppers and anyone who fancies popping in and saying hello!

After a day on the fells, a pub stop just feels right. Sore legs, muddy boots, wind blown hair and being absolutely ready for a drink and some good pub food. We’re in the centre of Keswick, making it an easy stop after a day exploring the Lake District. Named with a nod to Alfred Wainwright and the walks that bring so many people to this area, it is a great spot to sit down, catch your breath and relax over a drink!

If your mate says, “It’s an easy walk”, don’t trust them 🥾🤣

We have all heard it before. “Just a little stroll”, then suddenly you are halfway up a fell wondering why you believed them. The good news is, there is always a pint waiting at the end of it. We’re right in the heart of Keswick, making it a great stop after a day out in the Lake District. Muddy boots, tired legs and a good story from the fells are all welcome here. Call in, grab a drink and recover properly!

That is what we’re is all about. People coming in after a day out in Keswick, swapping walking routes, weather updates, near misses, tired legs and the classic “we definitely took the scenic route” excuse.

Inspired by Alfred Wainwright and the Lakeland fells, our pub has always had that Lake District feel. If you have been out on the fells, you have probably earned this one.

That is where we come in. We’re ready with pub food, ales and a good place to sit down after a day on the fells. If are visiting the Lake District, staying nearby or passing back through Keswick after an adventure, come in and blame the mountains. We will understand. ⛰️

If you have been out walking the fells, dodging puddles, climbing hills or just making the most of Keswick, you are more than welcome with us. Muddy boots, wet coats and tired legs are all part of a proper Lake District day out. We are right in the heart of Keswick, serving traditional pub food, local ales and hearty meals you want after being outdoors all day.
