Heritage Open Days is taking place across Cumbria and the Lake District this week, with historic buildings, local stories and special events being opened up for people to explore.

Farrers isn’t an official participant—but heritage is central to who we are.

We’ve been part of Kendal since 1819, with more than 200 years of tea, coffee and local history behind us.

So, while communities across the Lakes celebrate their past, it feels like a fitting time to celebrate the place we’ve called home for over two centuries.

Does a darker roast mean more caffeine?

Not necessarily.

Roast colour tells you far more about flavour than caffeine. The coffee itself, the amount used and the brewing method all influence how much caffeine ultimately reaches your cup.

So, as the mornings begin to cool, choose a darker roast for its deeper, bolder character—not because it automatically delivers a bigger caffeine hit.

No, there isn’t chocolate in the coffee 🍫.
