Located just 4 miles from Junction 36 on the M6, our lovely farm shop and café on our organic dairy farm is full of home baking, local produce, veg grown on the farm & there's organic raw milk in a vending machine too. We don’t take bookings so do come along to enjoy all-homemade food, cake, excellent coffee ...and more cake.

It’s that time…our tall bushy hedges are weighed with fruit.

Blackberries and elder, crab apple and sloes, hips and haws. What to do with it all? A browse on the bookshelves in the Farm Shop will inspire some foraged fruit processing.

🐮 Every year the vet comes to test the cows for TB. Two patches of hair are shaved and then versions of bovine and avian TB are injected.

The vet comes back 3 days later to check for reactions. Cumbria is a low risk area but there’s always a bit of tension as the cows are inspected.

🌱 Legume and herb seed mix has been drilled in Corner Meadow. This method of planting, amongst other benefits, leaves the soil surface intact.

Any moisture remaining after these dry weeks is retained and the grasses, legumes and herbs can come to life. Which is exactly what happened this week a with the help of the showers. 💦

The only answer is getting outside and grabbing some fresh air with a low key activity that keeps them entertained.

Follow our Farm Trail for just that -
📝Grab your trail sheet from the Farm Shop and head out to tick off the characters such as Mr Puddlebrush, Peep the Sheep and the Grunts, from the Jon Buxton.
🥾 FREE trail for families with young children.
✅ Once you’ve ticked them all off, head back to the Farm Shop to collect your sticker.
🚗 Free parking at Low Sizergh Barn.

They don’t have high nutritional needs at the moment as they are on their holiday from milking. They are content with rest and roughage.
