We’re lucky to be part of so many special holidays here on Bryher, but every now and then we get to witness a moment that will be remembered for a lifetime.

During a recent stay, John surprised his partner Lowles with a proposal on the terrace overlooking the Great Pool. Nobody knew what was about to happen - but Tom from our restaurant team spotted the moment unfolding, reached for his phone and managed to capture it for them, with Jane later capturing the happy couple after Emma had said "yes".

Emma later told us those pictures “mean the world” to the family and will be treasured forever.

A lovely moment, made all the more special by the care of Tom, Jane, Leah, Sarah and the wider restaurant team, who helped make the Knight family’s stay such a memorable one.

Huge congratulations to Emma and John from all of us at Hell Bay. We hope there are many more happy visits to Bryher ahead. ❤️

Rough Island Band return to the island this Thursday evening for a special concert at All Saints Church, Bryher, celebrating the launch of their latest album, Found an Island.

Piers, Jim, Joe and John first played together on St Agnes sixteen years ago, and Scilly’s landscape, people and sense of place have remained at the heart of their music ever since.

Their new album explores that idea of finding somewhere that feels like your own – a place of landscape, friendship, belonging and sanctuary. There could hardly be a more fitting setting to hear it than our little island church.

Expect an intimate evening of songs and stories shaped by a long connection with Scilly.

Oh - and there's pasties too 🙌
