As Covid-19 has put everybody's summer plans on hold, we have arranged a mini socially distanced festival in Ipswich town centre this Bank Holiday Sunday - with street food and House music! See link in comments for details and tickets ⬇️

We have some amazing news - we have located a potential new arts venue in the town centre, which we have just submitted an offer on!

The venue will have a main room holding around 400 people, suitable for gigs, club nights, gallery space, indoor markets, and all kind of pop up events, which is accessed through a separate room which will have a bar, seating for 50, and a kitchen.

The new space will be run as a charity, and as well as booking events with local and touring acts, it will be available for anybody to hire for their own events.

We have a number of fundraisers coming up to raise money for the new space, including an Acid House halloween event at The Rep on November 3rd (link in comments). Come along and re-live the second summer of love and help us raise some cash for the new venue!

We are absolutely heartbroken to hear of the passing of Spirit, aka Ipswich's very own Duncan Busto.

Our little town has a surprisingly strong musical heritage, and an influence that can be heard around the world, thanks to a number of residents' visionary work. Duncan truly was one of the pivotal figures. He showed us, even from a small town in the middle of the countryside, you can do big things.

We were lucky enough to have Duncan DJ for us on a number of occasions, and just as lucky to share a drink and a joke with him when he visited on a night he wasn't playing. Such an amazing bloke who will be sorely missed.

We have an update:

Unfortunately, after 18 months of negotiating and submitting plans for the new music and arts venue, the agent decided to rent the building we were looking at to another party. It will now become a 25,000 sq. ft. charity shop. It's pretty disappointing news after we put so much effort into making plans for the space.

We have made some enquiries over taking over a warehouse on the outskirts of town, but police have expressed concerns over public safety and potential antisocial behaviour, so this is looking doubtful.

We are still actively looking for a new space, but there just doesn't seem to be anything suitable available at the moment - but we remain hopeful we will find something soon!

This Saturday we'll be taking over the Curve Bar with 2 rooms of music, featuring D&B from EZ Rollers and Villem & McLeod, and House Music from Dutchie and the ᴛʜɪs ɪs ʟɪᴠᴇ ᴛᴇᴄʜ DJs, with 2 hefty sound systems!

Tickets only £5, more on the door.

01/02/2018

We'll be hosting our second fundraiser for the new venue space on Saturday March 3rd over 2 rooms - DNB in room 1 with EZ Rollers featuring Ella Sopp & Villem & McLeod, and Tech House in room 2 with Dutchie & ᴛʜɪs ɪs ʟɪᴠᴇ ᴛᴇᴄʜ DJs.

Update #3

It's been a year since we were unfairly evicted from our home on Great Colman Street (which still sits empty), and as we slowly edge toward our new venue, we need to find funding to help us get in there. With Mitchell & Butler kicking us out just before the busy Christmas period, we were left not much cash - as well as losing the tens of thousands we invested into the building, and our deposit.

On December 27th, we will be hosting the first of a number of fundraising events, to help us get into our new home. We will be joined by Ipswich biggest musical export, world-renound electronic musician and DJ Kirk Degiorgio, playing a set of 80's Hip Hop, House & Techno as a homage to his musical roots in Ipswich - please click attending on the event (link in comments below), invite some friends, and join us for a drink and a dance the day after boxing day at Arlingtons on Museum Street, to help us raise a bit of cash for the new venue!

If all goes to plan, our new venue will be a dedicated music and arts venue located in the town centre, with 3 different spaces, each fitted with staging and sound, ranging from 200, up to 1000 capacity, allowing us to host a huge range of events, invite bigger acts into Ipswich to play, as well as supporting local artists. It will also host a permanent art gallery, as well as affordable studios to hire for artists and musicians.

Villem (Mute) & McLeod continue their faultless run of incredible tunes for some of the best labels in D&B https://youtu.be/Zv9EWgHW80Y

The most Suffolk man in Grime™ Loom scored a Rinse FM residency https://soundcloud.com/rinsefm/loom131017

Sloth & Whispy Ray as Indigo Frequency have caught the attention of national press with their new single 'Limoncello' https://offlicencemagazine.com/2017/10/13/ipswich-hip-hop-indigo-frequency-limoncello/

Update #2

Unfortunately the building we were originally looking at was not suitable after getting it surveyed, however we have found a new space! The building would be a warehouse-type event space, across multiple rooms of varying sizes, with spaces from 200 to potentially 1000+ capacity - meaning we could bring much bigger acts into the town to perform, which we are massively excited about!

We have already started negotiations with the landlord about the lease on the new premises, with lots of work and red tape ahead of us - but things are going very well so far.

We are still getting messages of support and encouragement from you guys, which is amazing. Fingers crossed we will be in our new home soon and can get back to bringing some amazing events to Ipswich! :)

24/01/2017

Ipswich has been dubbed a “cultural wasteland” that needs to improve its music scene and offer more for young people.

18/01/2017

I thought we'd post an update to the situation as you guys haven't heard from us for a month. Unfortunately there were no negotiations with Mitchell & Butler - the offer they mentioned in the Ipswich Star article was an additional 2 weeks rent free period in exchange for us doing the extensive works they originally agreed to do. The quotes we had for the works were between £35,000 and £80,000 - 2 weeks rent doesn't touch the sides, so unfortunately, we have permanently moved from 1 Great Colman Street.

We have been looking around for a new space, and have potentially found one - it would mean 2 event rooms, and a rather wicked outside space/smoking area. We're currently in negotiations with the landlord about the building.

We would like to than everybody for the amazing comments and support we had during the closure, it meant a huge amount in a pretty dark time. Also massive bigupps who made it out to our last few events - Akil The MC graced us with one of the most inspiring and breathtaking performances we have ever hosted, and as per, Universal Drumz tore the place down.

Keep watching this space for updates on the new location. We have some pretty big bookings lined up for our first few events - keep your fingers crossed!
