The Runway Café The Runway is a not for profit, fairtrade church coffee shop in the Martlesham Heath community. We can provide decaffeinated coffee if preferred.

The Runway is a church coffee shop in the centre of Martlesham Heath community. It's a place to chat or find a listening ear, a place to meet friends or a place to be. Apart from the manager, all staff are volunteers and the coffee shop is run on a non-profit making basis. All our hot drinks are fair trade, or Rainforest Alliance Certified. Our coffee beans come from Indigo Valley coffee company, and we can serve you lattes, cappuccinos, espresso, mocha, americano and filter coffee. We have a variety of teas, fruit juice and cans of drink. We can also do take-aways. To tempt your taste buds we serve cheese & fruit scones and varying cakes each week, all home-made by our dedicated team of bakers. A limited range of gluten-free homemade cakes & scones is available. All our bakers have 5 star accreditation, as does The Runway Coffee Shop. We are part of Martlesham church and we aim to build a sense of community within Martlesham Heath. Exciting news. After 4 1/2 amazing years as the Runway Manager, I am hanging up my apron and passing it on to Linda. It has been such a huge priviledge to be in charge of the Runway and I have learnt so much. Above everything has been my deepening faith in God and seeing his hand in the work that we do there every day. Linda joined us yesterday and will gradually start taking over the reins from me and will fully take over the role on 1st October. Linda joins us with a wealth of experience and is committed to maintaining our high standards in what we offer food and drink wise, but also in upholding our commitment to make everybody feel welcome and to maintaiin as much as possible our very reasonable prices, making us affordable to all. Tickets are now on sale for our Summer Afternoon Cream Tea. Please do pop in to the Runway Tuesday - Saturday between 9am - 12pm to purchase your tickets. The Runway Cafe which is attached to St Michael's on Martlesham Heath and has been open for 11 years now. For the past 10 years Toby our Vicar, has been volunteering in the Runway, mostly on a Tuesday morning but sometimes later in the week or a Saturday. Last Sunday saw our 3 churches come together to say our farewells to Toby and his lovely family as they move on from Martlesham. My sincere thanks go to Toby, Tamsin and Xanthe for all of their input into volunteering, be it serving in the cafe or coming along to take charge of the music for Tea Coffee, Cakes and Carols. We will miss you, but send you off with our love and very best wishes. God bless xx

Phew, and breath. Why not make the most of the slightly cooler weather and join us in the Runway Cafe for homemade cakes and scones, good company and a wonderful view onto the village green. Open Tuesday - Saturday 9am to 12pm. As a not for profit Coffee Shop our prices are exceptionally good value and everyone is welcome.

In support of Birchwwod Fete this Saturday 13th June, the Runway will be open from 9am until 3pm. Serving a selection of speciality coffees, teas, cold drinks, and serving homemade cheese and fruit scones and homemade cakes all at our usual low prices, leaving you more money to spend at the fete. Indoor seating and some outdoor seating is available and we look forward to welcoming you.
