A Message from Lianne
Nearly a year ago, we launched Cheese and Wine at Myra with the aim of creating a relaxing, welcoming, and intimate space where you could spend your evenings enjoying delicious cheeses, beautiful wines, and the company of those closest to you.
I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved over the past eleven months - and you’ve truly embraced it. Whether you’ve joined us for live music, tastings, games nights, or simply a cosy evening with friends, the feedback has been phenomenal. You’ve loved the atmosphere, the homely feel, the quality of our cheeses and wines… and of course, the fondue! It really has felt like something special, and I’ve loved being part of your experiences here.
Many of you will know that we’ve been trying to step away from the café side of the business for some time. My hope was to continue growing the Cheese and Wine bar and bring to life all the ideas we still have waiting in the wings. However, despite having something truly special, trade has been a little too inconsistent to ensure a stable sustainable income.
For those who may not know our journey, we opened the café over six years ago - just a couple of months before COVID hit the UK. Since then, we’ve faced ongoing challenges, from lockdowns to significant increases in energy, oil, and food costs. We’ve worked tirelessly to make it work, but as our lease at Myra comes to an end, I’ve made the difficult decision to take a step back from the constant pressures of self-employment, especially in such a challenging time for the hospitality industry.
That said, I truly believe in what we’ve built. My hope is to take a short break before continuing Cheese and Wine as a pop-up, alongside returning to full-time employment. In time, I hope to find a new home where we can welcome you all back to an even better version of what we started.
Our final day at Myra will be Saturday 2nd May. I really hope you’ll stay connected with us on social media and through our emails to keep up with what’s next. We have some wonderful events planned between now and then, and we’ll be open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5pm, so if you’ve been meaning to visit, now is the time to book. If you have any outstanding vouchers, please do try to use them before we close.
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch this venture grow and to meet so many of you along the way. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your support, kindness, and encouragement, it has meant everything.
