Every September, we say goodbye to some of the brilliant people who have become such a big part of Thirty Nine—and it never gets any easier. 💛
Most will be back at the holidays (and we’ll be counting the days), but it still feels like the end of a little chapter.
We’ve watched them grow in confidence, find their feet, make lifelong friendships and become people we’re incredibly proud of. They arrived as new faces, often starting their very first job, and somehow became part of our family.
This year feels especially emotional as we say goodbye to so many of our OGs—including Lucy, our longest-standing team member, who has been with us for an incredible four and a half years. It’s difficult to imagine Thirty Nine without you.
We’ll miss the laughter, the stories, the chaos and everything each of you brings to the place. Strangely, though, nobody has mentioned missing my dad jokes…
We’re also so grateful for the brilliant team who are staying with us. You’re the heart of Thirty Nine, and it’s your warmth, hard work and care that make it feel like much more than a coffee shop. We genuinely couldn’t do it without you.
And now we’re welcoming some lovely new faces—including a few younger siblings of the OGs. Apparently, working at Thirty Nine runs in the family. And fortunately for me, that means a whole new audience for my brilliant jokes.
To everyone heading off to university: go and make memories, take every opportunity and do brilliant things - go make a dent in the universe. We’ll always be here with a warm welcome, a good coffee and a place for you on the team.
