So, hungry people. I have decided to open again in the New Year. It's quite possibly the last few weeks I have to be with my Mum.
Financially this will prove difficult, as I still pay rent despite being closed, but emotionally it is the right decision for me and my family.
I do hope you all enjoy the festive period with your families, and cherish every precious moment. I will keep you posted as to when I will open again.

Completely aside from food, but, could I ask, if anyone has tried Dopamine patches? If so, do they work? I'm tempted to try them but I'm put off by the sheer numbers of sellers, and the numbers of scammers out there. Let me know x

So, I made this for my breakfast today. Smashed avocados, chopped vine tomatoes, finely chopped red onion, half a clove of finely chopped garlic, a little salt and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, mixed together atop slices of toasted rye sour dough, 2 slices of premium, rindless smoked bacon and a large free range egg. It was delicious, and full of the 'good' fats and proteins to fuel and maintain both body and mind. Should I add it to our menu? The egg could also be poached as opposed to fried, so even healthier! What do you think?

HELLO STARVING PEOPLE!!!! WE HAVE NEWS!!
FINLAYS WILL BE RE-OPENING ON MONDAY 1ST DECEMBER!!!
For those of you following the page, it's been a difficult few months, but I am finally able to focus my attention to getting my lovely cafe back open. Someone left a one star review, because I wasn't open? Surely you can't review somewhere unless it's open? Anyway, if he'd followed the page he would have known. Thank you to all of you who do. You've sent me some lovely messages of encouragement and support over the last couple of months, for which I have been most thankful.
So, what can you expect from the new and improved 'Finlays Kitchen? We now have storage and space to have more stock. New refridgeration, extraction and new decor. Everything is situated to provide quick access to everything, enabling us to be more efficient and speedy when cooking your food. As always, wherever possible, everything will be made from scratch on the premises, and now that full access to the oven is available, we will be making fresh pies and pasties, quiches and other great tasting products.
Also, we will be doing Sunday Roasts, available to pre order for collection or delivery.
It's all very exciting and I just hope, despite the time which has elapsed, everything pays off, and you all come back to me with open arms, an empty belly and a big smile!
Remember, remember, the 1st of December!

Hey hungry people. It's been a while. I wanted to touch base with you all regarding my lovely little cafe, and the reason it hasn't been open of late.
Some of you know, my Mum suffered a massive aortic dissection, the lining of the aorta split from top to bottom and we were told she didn't have long to live.
Defying all odds, Mum survived and was released from hospital to essentially die at home. It's been tough, as I've spent every moment tending to her and making her comfortable. She came out of hospital with delirium, which reduces lucidity and renders the sufferer unpredictable and in Mums case, a danger to herself. She didn't have a clue who she was, where she was or what was happening. It became apparent to me that, in as much as I wanted to look after and nurse my Mum, I wasn't able to continue without sleep, or work, which affected my own health and finances, and I wasn't able to provide the level of care she needed. It took a few weeks to sort out, but Mum has been accepted into respite care, which frees me up to address my own responsibilities.
So, with that said, I hope to have the cafe open in the next couple of weeks, with a great new look, and the equipment to cater for all of your foody needs. I'd like to thank everyone for their messages of encouragement and support during what has been a life changing and humbling time. As soon as I'm able to dedicate 100% of my time to you, I will. Watch this space!

Hi hungry people. I'm afraid you'll have to stay hungry for a while longer. It's nothing to do with the café, but with my Mum and her ongoing care. It's been a difficult time to say the least, and often heartbreaking, hysterically funny, all in the same moment. I am both privileged and humbled to care for my Mum, and plan to do so for the limited time she has left. I can't predict when we will reopen, but I do hope you will come and see us when we do. Family first.

Hi hungry people. Sadly, things aren't going to plan in all aspects of life. Our refurb is once again delayed, this time by the electrician, who can't come til Saturday. It'll be a 2 day job, and then there's other stuff to be done after the electrics are sorted. I will keep you posted.
Also, a shout out to Treetops Hospice for sending the lovely Rachel out to do a night sit with my Mum last night. Such a caring and amazing organisation, helping to make the time Mum has left as dignified and comfortable as is possible. Thank you.

Good morning hungry people! Our refurb is still ongoing and we sadly are unable to open this week. We've had a few setbacks and are working through them. We hope to be open next Thursday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Also, a big shout out to Macmillan Nurses. My Mum had a night sit last night so I could get some rest. Gillian was amazing. What a wonderful organisation. I will be doing some fundraisers as soon as we're up and running.
As soon as we are anywhere near opening, it will be posted here.
