LATEST: KICK-OFF DELAYED TO 2am DUE TO BAD WEATHER

⚽ UPDATE: England’s World Cup last-16 clash with Mexico will remain a 1am kick-off on Monday (UK time).

There was plenty of excitement earlier after reports suggested FIFA were bringing the match forward to 7pm on Sunday because of the threat of severe thunderstorms and lightning in Mexico City.

However, despite widespread speculation, the match will now go ahead at its original scheduled time.

FIFA had considered an earlier kick-off due to concerns that storms could cause lengthy delays under its lightning safety protocols, but the plans were ultimately shelved.

So, if you’re planning to cheer on the Three Lions, it’s back to a late night after all!
