Whether you're hiking from point A to point B, you're interested in the Mill, or you were lured in by the smell of Kathy's plum and pecan cake, Hele mill is a relaxing, interesting and child-friendly place to visit. The Hele Corn Mill (or, 'Old Corn Mill') is a working musem in Hele, North

Devon. It is open for guided tours by the family who run the mill and tea rooms. We use the millstones to create whole grain, organic flour which is sold in the gift shop. Opposite to the mill is our award-winning Tea Room, where we sell a large range of home-made cakes, slices, cream teas and light refreshments. Gluten-free options are available.

Wet start today as we listened to BBC Devon live from the harbour. The presenter was quite put out it was raining and had only the cover of his boot lid - we spied him from our house, dashed to the mill and Kathy prepared fresh fruit and plain scones together with Devonshire splits and Thunder and Lightning ( if you know, you know…). If you want to listen I blagged 5 min interview at the very end of their stint. Please slide to last five mins.

Matt Woodley sits in for John live from Ilfracombe harbour in North Devon.

21 years ago this week, I built an launched a scaled down Viking craft to test my ideas on the Bayeux Tapestry. Big shout out to the Boss who spent her 38th wedding anniversary, rowing a Viking longboat in Roskilde, Denmark.
