🌿 A Little Favour from Oak & Olive ☕️
Since moving into our new home on Hythe High Street, we've been working incredibly hard to build Oak & Olive into something special, and we'd like to ask a little favour of our lovely customers.
We've received some feedback recently that has reminded us just how important reviews are for a small, independent business like ours.
Every day, we hear lovely comments from customers telling us how much they're enjoying our coffee, food and the little things we're doing differently. It genuinely means so much to us, and it's what keeps us going as we continue to find our feet.
The reality is that people are often much quicker to leave a public review when something hasn't quite gone right than when they've had a lovely experience. That can mean the reviews online don't always reflect the feedback we hear from our customers every day.
It's also been an incredibly difficult time for our little team. Sadly, we lost a member of our team last week who passed away, and we're all feeling her loss deeply. Alongside dealing with the shock and sadness of losing someone we cared about, we've also been working exceptionally hard to keep everything running while short-staffed.
She was so excited about our move to the High Street and about being part of Oak & Olive. She had so many ideas for the business, including coming out onto the High Street to offer people samples and introduce them to what we do. She was full of enthusiasm and genuinely wanted to help Oak & Olive grow. Knowing how excited she was about our future makes her loss even harder.
We know she would have wanted us to carry on, keep pushing forward and make a success of what we were building together. That's exactly what we're trying to do, even on the difficult days.
We're not sharing this for sympathy, but because we want our customers to understand a little of what's happening behind the scenes. We're a small, independent business made up of real people who care enormously about what we're doing, and right now, we're doing our very best under some very difficult circumstances.
We know we're not perfect. We've recently moved premises, we're still finding our feet, and we're always learning and looking for ways to improve. We genuinely welcome honest feedback, and we want every customer to enjoy their experience with us.
❤️ So, if you've visited us and enjoyed your experience, we'd be incredibly grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to leave us an honest Google review.
It doesn't need to be long, and we're certainly not asking for anything that isn't genuine. We'd simply love to hear from the customers who are enjoying what we're doing, too. Those kind words make a real difference, help other people discover us and give our team a little reassurance that, despite the challenges, we're getting some things right.
As a small business, public reviews can have a huge impact on our reputation and our ability to grow. We hear your lovely comments in person every day, and it would mean so much to see some of those experiences shared online as well.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, whether you've popped in for a coffee, enjoyed one of our freshly prepared paninis or stopped for a chat. Every visit, kind word and bit of support means more than you probably realise.
Please keep supporting your local independents. Every visit and every genuine review really does make a difference. 🌿

Thank you for being part of the Oak & Olive journey, especially during what has been a very emotional and challenging time for our team.
We're going to keep working hard, keep improving and keep building the business we know she was so excited to be part of.
