CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

Congratulations to The George and Dragon Bowling Team. Another season, another trophy.

Yesterday they won the Manchester County Premier Cup in a close run final.

Going to address a question that's been asked so much this week.

Why do we not have Sky and show football.

Tell you why.........

As a private landlord of this pub with our bowling green and b**r gardens and SKY still using an outdated property rateable value to judge costs.......

To have SKY and TNT in this pub costs over £1,700 a month.

That comes out of our pockets.

You know who makes the least money form pubs when you take away brewery costs, overpriced b**r and, utilities and TV?

The landlords.

When you look at chain venues and breweries that have deals with SKY it's different.

We have no deals. No loyalty discounts. Nothing.

We simply cannot afford the cost of screening live football in today's environment.

Simple.

We would like to say a very fond farewell to one of our most loyal regulars.

Barney (on the right) crossed the rainbow bridge today.

He has been one of our favourite regulars since we moved here.

Many drinks, many treats and the odd packet of quavers. Always had a happy greeting for everyone who said hello.

It's always the small things in life!

Another good Saturday night @ The George and Dragon

One of my regulars came up to me tonight and said what a great atmosphere this pub has.

His next comment was.....

"You've created this!"

All I've ever done the last three years in this pub is tried to keep people happy and I really appreciate these little comments. However insignificant they seem, I genuinely live off them. Thank you!

I will take a hand in getting this pub back on its feet because I've worked hard. Natalie getting involved has taken it to another level.

But........

You punters, regulars, one night stands, all make it a bit more special. You make this pub as much as we do and proud to be a part of it.

NOTICE!

The George and Dragon is today, once again, a film set.

The crew are putting the finishing touches to the movie and will be ready for screening soon.

Although the movie is set for film festivals around the country, we will have a special screening in the pub when it's complete

SWEEPSTAKE UPDATE.......

The World Cup is not quite over!

We still don't know who has won the sweepstake.

Hands up. With us starting it a little late, there were envelopes that were unsold. 12 in total. Apologies from us for that.

We have been debating what to do and this is the solution.

The envelopes will be opened on Friday. We will broadcast them being opened on the page on Friday night. Winner will receive the cash prize on Saturday and select the charity who will benefit from the other half of the pot

We will get a few people to buy remaining envelopes between now and then.

Whatever is left unsold on Friday at 7pm will go to our George and Dragon syndicate who are members of a pub group and they will select the charity

I myself have bought a few envelopes. Should I buy any chance win it, all the pot will go to charity and we will have a vote on the page so you can determine where the money goes.

Sorry again for the confusion.

On the upside, there's still a little excitement left.
