🍂 Our gardeners are always looking for ways to support the wildlife that makes its home at Merriments.

⭐ A dedicated wildlife habitat area has now been created within the gardens, providing valuable resources for insects, birds and small mammals, including voles and field mice.

It’s part of our gardeners’ wider approach to working with nature and making sure the gardens provide a welcoming environment for wildlife as well as our visitors.

✨Elsewhere, September is bringing changing colours across the gardens, with the lilies also putting on a lovely display.

Another reason to take your time and notice the smaller details on your next visit.

If you have any questions during your visit, our gardeners are always happy to chat with visitors. You’ll find them working throughout the gardens, so feel free to stop and have a chat.

🎄✨ Your Christmas get-together starts here.

Whether it’s a long-overdue catch-up with friends, a family Christmas lunch or a festive meal with colleagues, join us at Merriments for great food and time together this Christmas.

✨ Our Christmas Menu will be served from 13th November to 23rd December, with a choice of seasonal favourites.

Start with dishes including chicken liver pâté, prawn cocktail or warming parsnip soup, followed by traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, salmon en croûte or our vegan mushroom, cranberry & chestnut Wellington.

✨ 3 courses – £33.50 per person

🎃 Follow the pumpkins through Merriments Gardens this October half term.

From Monday 26th October, our Pumpkin Trail will wind its way through the gardens, giving you another reason to enjoy an Autumn visit to Merriments.

Explore our four-acre RHS Partner Garden, follow the Pumpkin Trail and enjoy the changing Autumn colours.

Afterwards, warm up in our Conservatory Café with seasonal drinks, including a spiced latte and white hot chocolate with Halloween-inspired marshmallows.

Ready to slow down for Autumn? 🍂

As the busy days of summer begin to ease, September is a lovely time to enjoy a quieter pace and spend a little more time outdoors.

🌿🌼 Which plants thrived during this summer’s drought – and which struggled?

It’s been one of the questions we’ve been asked most in the gardens this summer.

After such a hot, dry season, some plants at Merriments have coped remarkably well, while others have found the conditions much more challenging.

In this video, our Head Gardener, Dan, takes a look at some of the plants in the gardens and shares which varieties have performed well through the drought – and which haven’t fared quite so well.

If you’re thinking about what to plant in your own garden for increasingly dry summers, there may be a few useful ideas to take away too. 🌱
