Today’s Saturday Silk Painting Live is the first practical session in my July Summer Garden series.
I’ll be showing how I turn flowers from the garden into a 1:1 line drawing for a silk scarf, then use gutta to draw the outline onto the silk before colour is added.
This is not a full structured class — just a quiet studio demonstration from Huntly Silk Painting Studio, showing the early planning stage of a silk painting design.
Today’s focus:
• choosing useful flower and leaf shapes
• simplifying details from a garden photo
• creating a scarf-size line drawing
• transferring the design onto silk with gutta
• preparing the outline for colour in the next stage
If you would like to follow the July series, prepare a few flower, leaf or garden photos for the next session.
Please use your own photos, or make sure you have permission to use them as art references.
