It’s with a lot of sadness that I write this, but I have made the very difficult decision to call it a day on my time in Scilly. Setting up and running ‘Gav’s Fish and Chips’ has been the most wonderful thing I’ve done. It’s had many a complication and proved to be a lot of hard work at times, but it has been so rewarding to serve all you brilliant people! Whilst Scilly can be the best place to live, the reality of living and running a business in my mid twenties here has become tough - not having a proper place to live being one of the main factors for making this decision.
A massive thank you to all who have supported me, from the visitors that holiday on the islands, to the fantastic local community of St Agnes and the Isles of Scilly. I will miss you all.
Another special thanks goes to all my suppliers. Being able to source the majority of my produce locally meant I could sell every dish with huge pride. Regular supply of fresh lobster and fish from Jacob and Ross, local eggs from Harry, beef from Downs Farm, pork from Troytown and stunning salads from Jonathan of Scilly Organics.
This is certainly not the end of ‘Gav’s Fish and Chips’! I intend to move to Cornwall and will be setting up here. Keep an eye out over the next few months for my future plans!
