What a week 💕

A great first run for Bangkok Bowls. The amount of work that goes into bringing a festival to life is honestly madness. Lorries, forklifts, endless prep, late nights and thousands of people all coming together in a field for a few days of music and joy.

We’ve loved every minute of it.

It’s only midweek and we’re already down on the Isle of Wight, getting the unit ready to do it all again tomorrow.

And if festival fields aren’t your thing, don’t worry — the café is back open from Friday, ready with dumplings, coffee and all the usual goodness. 🥟⛺️💕

DAY 1 ON SITE ⛺️🚛

Calling it a work day feels generous.

The day mostly consisted of accreditation, security checks, carrying our entire lives across a field, putting tents up and trying to remember where we left things five minutes ago.

The important bit though…

The shipping container has LANDED and we immediately ran to the Arena to look at it like little kids on Christmas morning.

We’ve been working towards this thing for over a year with our Xmas market pals … planning for the summer in the depths of winter and seeing it sat there in a field ready to serve thousands of people feels a bit mad.

I mean. Look at Amy and Maisies faces.

Who gave us permission to be this excited?

The chief dumpling makers have been causing trouble in the test kitchen again…

After much tasting, debating and “just one more sample”, they’ve decided to bring back the lemongrass chicken dumplings. 🎉

STORY TIME ☕️🇻🇳

Maisie took a lil trip back to Vietnam to sort out a Vietnamese coffee supplier because honestly… you lot keep drinking us out of house and home.

She headed down to Buôn Ma Thuột in the Central Highlands — the coffee capital of Vietnam — visiting farms, meeting producers and even coming across wild elephants.

One thing that really stood out was how passionate everyone was about improving the taste and reputation of robusta coffee. A lot of people still think robusta means bitter or low quality, but the producers over there are putting so much care into changing that perception.

And honestly? The level of care was beautiful. Coffee is still picked by hand, with farms carefully selecting ripe cherries rather than stripping everything all at once. Vietnam also produces arabica too, but robusta is very much the heart of the region.

A lot of the farms were using more natural and organic farming methods as well — planting sweeter crops like pepper plants and dragon fruit alongside the coffee trees. It helps protect the crops from wildlife naturally while creating a healthier growing environment overall. Very clever. Very wholesome.

ANYWAY.

Our first batch has officially landed in the UK 👀

So if you fancy trying the real deal this weekend, you know where we are. We’ve got loads planned too — tasting sessions, different blends, brew methods and maybe even a proper Vietnamese coffee morning where we all aggressively slurp coffee and pretend we know what “notes of caramel and citrus” actually mean. Are you up for it?

Super silky, super soft and super bloody delicious.

Perfect if you’re bringing your Nan and she’s like, “Oooh… this menu looks a bit scary. I’m not sure about chilli and lime sausages… and what’s a miso butter bean?”

She’ll love this one.

Current favourite order combo from you lot: Tornado Egg and a sesame Lao Gan Ma crispy egg on top.
