This cake was a few centimetres taller than me.

5ft 5in long, handcrafted, assembled and finished on-site for Becky & Joe’s wedding day.

What made this project so special wasn’t just the scale of it, but the trust Becky & Joe placed in me from the very beginning. Together, we created a design that felt elegant, timeless and completely their own.

Wedding cakes like this are months in the making. Conversations, sketches, planning, baking, transporting and hours of careful work on the day itself.

Standing back and seeing it all come together was one of those moments that reminds me why I love what I do.

And if you’d like to see what really went into creating a cake of this scale, I’ll be sharing the behind-the-scenes in my next reel.

Coffee is just the excuse.

I’m Laura, the founder of Abba Cakes, and although most people know me for cakes, coffee has always been part of who I am.

I’m Colombian, and where I come from coffee is much more than a drink.

It’s a reason to slow down.

A reason to spend time together.

A reason to ask someone, “¿Vamos por un cafecito?” ☕

Some of my favourite memories are sitting with my mum and dad on their cacao farm in the Colombian mountains, sharing a tinto and talking about life.

When I moved to Europe, I spent years looking for a coffee that gave me that same feeling.

Then I found Café Sofia.

The mountains you see in these photos are where this coffee comes from, and from the very first sip it reminded me of home.

So if you visit us in Chester, I’d love you to try it.

Not because it’s our newest coffee.

Because it’s the one I chose. 🤍🇨🇴☕

The little wins 🩷

Years ago, when I started baking, a KitchenAid felt completely out of reach. It was one of those things I looked at and thought, “Maybe one day.”

Today, after all the stress, long days, two shops, a growing team and countless cakes later, I bought my first pink one.

It probably sounds silly, but it made me really happy.

A good reminder that sometimes the things we once dreamed about don’t stop being special just because we’ve achieved them.

And if you’re just starting your journey, keep going.

The KitchenAid will come. 🩷
