2 WEEKS TO GO!!🙀😸
Paws on the Path for Jackson's Rescue Cats💜
If you hadn't seen our previous post, Mink and Marie have both recently been seen by Leahurst hospital, and both will need a CT scan in the next few months to assess how badly affected their knees are. What happens after the CT scan entirely depends on the results. If surgery is needed it's a big surgery that comes with plenty of risks so we will be having long discussions with the vets. 💜
A huge thank you to those of you who have donated towards the sponsored walk for the girls. The CT scans are around £850 each so we are close to covering the cost of this already and we are SO grateful! Mink and Marie may still need surgery but unfortunately we won’t know for months 😬
We have edited the fundraiser to include all the rescue cats in our care that need our help from the sponsored walk! The more money we raise by doing this walk means we can breathe a little easier since dealing with such complex cases recently.
Read below to hear the rescue stories about some of the cat's we'll be raising money for!😸
Reef:
Reef had a burst abscess of her front leg and underwent surgery to repair the wound. However, the surgical site broke down during healing and has since become a chronic problem despite ongoing treatments, medications, vet visits and Phovia light therapy. Her pain medication has had to be increased so much that some days she struggles to even stand up to eat her food. While the medication helps control her pain, it’s no way for a cat to live. We want to give her the chance to be comfortable, active, and happy again. After specialist advice, we’ve discussed that the kindest option to give her a good quality of life is amputation of her front leg. The cost of her treatment has already been huge, and we now need help funding her surgery and recovery.
Big Mac:
Big Mac was found to have a polyp deep within his ear canal, that had caused a severe chronic infection. The infection has caused significant thickening and changes to the bone surrounding the ear which is what's causing his head tilt and neurological symptoms. He recently underwent major surgery to remove the polyp, which has been sent away for testing. There are still a few side effects from the surgery, but we are hoping they will improve over the next few week! The surgery alone has cost us upwards of £3000, not including his medication and treatment pre and post operation.
Yuki:
She arrived at the rescue with some skin issues but every time we think we’re making progress, it comes back even worse. We’ve switched her diet, trialed countless medications and treatment but nothing is helping this poor girl. Her skin is extremely painful and leaving her with open wounds. On top of that, Yuki recently had to undergo near full-mouth extractions because of how bad her teeth were when she arrived. Parts of her teeth and gum have been removed and sent off to the lab, and she's also had skin biopsies to determine the reasonings behind her awful skin condition. The biopsies alone have cost over £600!
By the end of the walk, our bodies will be aching… and in a small way, that helps us connect to what these cats are experiencing right now. The money raised will help go towards their care, as well as all the other cats and rescue animals currently living with us at Jackson's Animal Rescue!
Every mile we walk is for them and all the other cats in our care 🥰 Please click on the link below to donate!👇
