freelance adventurer since 2012
Often I describe myself as a ‘recovering civil servant’ and it’s true that this part of my career history has been defining in terms of my approach, knowledge and expertise. But in truth that was only the first half of my story so far. After a few brief years in the charity sector I embarked on a freelance adventure that I’ve now been enjoying since 2012. I’ve created a happy niche for myself in the space between academia and the real world - working with individuals and organisations, predominantly in the Public Sector. My areas of expertise are policy, strategy and leadership. I love to take a facilitative approach to develop and then embed real quality learning experiences.
Working as an associate of bigger companies I’ve enjoyed lots of amazing opportunities to work with governments both in the UK and internationally (the picture above is of a senior civil service course in Trinidad). I’ve had success winning contracts on my own - including a prestigious training redevelopment for the National Trust (pictured). I’m also delighted to work as an associate of the wonderful What Works Centre for Wellbeing.
Along the way I’ve qualified as an executive coach and HE lecturer and been proud to become a fellow of both the Higher Education Academy and also the Chartered Management Institute.
Life as a freelance adventurer can be lonely sometimes, so I’m always open to new collaborations and connections. Do take a look through my Facebook history, the portfolio on my website, or my LinkedIn profile to get more of an idea of what I get up to.
