What an absolutely incredible Summer we have had here at The Treehouse.
We have been busier than we have ever been in the history of our beloved little non profit organisation.
Rachel and I have been blown away by everyone who chose to join us each day, it’s been so special to welcome familiar faces and new faces each day - all the kindness, care, thoughtfulness, love and positive energy of all our visitors is contagious and even though it has been hard work and pretty exhausting we have loved every minute.
The last few days we’ve been feeling a bit sentimental and been thinking back to how we started…We built this place from nothing but our values of justice for the community when a great deal of services and support were being lost across our communities not just here but across the country.
We had the determination to create a place where everyone is equal the moment they step through the door and can access support, join groups, meet and make friends with others that they may not usually meet otherwise.
A place where even though Rachel and I are are not professionals we are people with lived experience and empathy and we can find and gather help if it’s needed or simply stop and listen to you.
When we set up The Treehouse seven years ago there was so much political division within our community and across the country, which polarised beliefs and views and created chasms of separation between us all that it was unbearable to witness, so we created this place. That instead of division we come together with love, open mindedness and respect for each other, my dad said a few years ago that The Treehouse is like a haven in a chaotic world. So many people over the years have said they can feel the positivity when they walk in.
From starting with nothing-no money, no one else actually believed we could do what we had dreamed of. It was an achievement to even open the doors let alone get through lockdowns and financial crisis after crisis and working with very little to becoming a thriving organisation where many times we have joked we’d love to push the walls out to make the space bigger as we literally have outgrown our space!
Well. We have exciting news for September, we have giganticus ideas and plans and incredible support from other organisations to help The Treehouse community grow even BIGGER.
We would love you to join us on this next stage of our exciting adventure as truth be told we are nothing without you.
We are now on our holibobs but will be back open on 3rd September. But if you’d like to be a Treehouse volunteer and be part of something remarkably special just message us as even though we are resting we can’t wait to hear from you!
Lots of love and see you soooooon 💚
