You might have had our Scotch eggs, pork pies and quiches, but may I now introduce our 3 salads to accompany them. In the left corner we have potato & spring onion, in the right corner there is carrot, broccoli & mint and keeping them apart is a Smokey 3 bean salad. Enjoy!

As daylight hours increase and temperatures slowly start to rise there is a whisper of spring in the air. It is particularly exciting for a chef as we switch from root vegetables, apples, pears and citrus fruit to the promise of salad leaves, legumes & berries, from deep greens, purples & browns to vivid bright greens, oranges and reds. Clean the barbecue grill and order the lump wood charcoal, shelve the slow cooker and smoker, it is time to launch the new Spring and Summer menus from Appetite Catering!

Our sample menus show just a fraction of what is possible with spring seasonal produce. Some of these ingredients are only available for a very short period of time, so for our private dining packages we create bespoke menus for each event, based on ingredients and dishes that you enjoy, to use these at their very best. Whether you are planning a small intimate dinner or hosting a large party, we can help plan and cater for your event. If you are looking for a less formal approach, we can provide a hot buffet or full afternoon tea service, with crockery hire options.

Although now seen as a staple of any New York deli, served with lox and cream cheese, the bagel originated in the Jewish communities of Poland.

Doughnut shaped and made by hand, they are a yeasted wheat dough that are boiled initially to ensure that characteristic firm chewy texture, egg yolk glazed and then baked in a hot deck oven to give a golden crisp shiny finish. There are many variations, most of which incorporate seeds such as sesame, poppy or sunflower and made from a variety flours, including wholemeal, rye, buckwheat and granary.

Their versatility has seen them become increasingly more popular as breakfast and lunch snacks, and like bread they can be toasted too. Served open, topped on both halves, means you get twice the filling!

They can be quite tricky to get right, but if you enjoy making bread then they are certainly worth a try. This recipe has never failed me and to get the best results requires more technique and patience than effort or experience!

We are delighted to announce that our home delivered meals are back! But be quick, these delicious deliveries will only be available during January & February. To help support Veganuary and to inspire those who are looking for more meat-free options, over half of our new menu is vegan.

With the exception of the venison & beet Wellingtons (which are delivered raw and require full cooking), all dishes are cooked and then delivered chilled, in our compostable oven/microwave-safe boxes, with easy-to-follow re-heating instructions.

To place an order, email us at [email protected]. We do require 48-hours' for delivery, within a 30 minute radius of Hitchin, as all meals are freshly prepared using local seasonal produce.

If you are looking for something even more special to really spoil you & your loved one on (or even before) Valentine’s Day, please contact us for a bespoke fixed price menu.
