💖 The funeral may be changing – but our need to remember isn't.
For many families, a direct cremation is the right choice. It can be simple, private and more affordable, and I completely understand why people choose it.
But I also think we need to recognise something important.
Saying goodbye and remembering someone are not necessarily the same thing.
I’m seeing an increasing demand for meaningful memorial services – opportunities for family and friends to come together afterwards, to share memories, tell stories, laugh, cry and celebrate a life.
And a memorial doesn't have to look like a traditional funeral.
It could be an intimate gathering at home, a service somewhere special, a celebration of life surrounded by photographs and music, or simply friends and family coming together to raise a glass.
There are no rules.
Because ultimately, remembrance is about the person, not the ceremony.
A direct cremation may provide a simple goodbye...
We still need somewhere to say, “This was their life. This is why they mattered. And this is how we will remember them.” 💖✨🙏
If you’re considering a direct cremation but would still like to create a personal and meaningful memorial or celebration of life, I’d be very happy to talk through the possibilities with you, with no obligation.
