🎣 We've reeled in some extra opening hours.
From tomorrow, we're casting off our usual opening time and opening from 1pm - 7pm on the last Friday of every month.
🕐 Open 1pm to 7pm
Perfect if you've been fishing for a chance to visit earlier in the day!

🤬🤬🤬 Today we received a message offering to sell us Google reviews, Facebook reviews, followers and likes. I screenshotted it so you could see. To be honest, it made us quite angry.
As a small independent fish and chip business, we work hard for every customer who walks through our door. Every review we receive has been earned through real food, real service and real experiences.
Research shows that around 90% of consumers read online reviews before deciding where to spend their money, and many trust those reviews almost as much as recommendations from friends and family.
That's exactly why fake reviews matter.
Customers rely on reviews to make informed choices. When people are buying and selling reviews, everybody loses.
We'll never pay for reviews.
The 5-star reviews make our day. The less positive reviews help us get better. Both are valuable because they're genuine.
So, to everyone who has taken the time to leave us an honest review, thank you. Whether you've praised our fish, commented on our chips or suggested something we could do better, your feedback means more to us than any review money could buy. It's earned, one customer at a time.

🌱❤️ Back British Farming Day 2026 Today we're celebrating the fantastic British farmers who help keep our fryer baskets full.
All of our potatoes come from Lincolnshire, and we're proud to support British farming. The variety changes throughout the year depending on the season and growing conditions, and at the moment we're serving up delicious Sagitta potatoes.
Did you know? When the new season's potatoes arrive, we actually have to reduce the temperature of the fryer for their first cook. These freshly harvested potatoes contain more natural starch and moisture, so adjusting the frying temperature helps us achieve that perfect golden chip we all love.
And because farming always has a way of surprising us, one of this week's potatoes arrived in the shape of a heart! ❤️🥔 the perfect way to say thank you to the hardworking farmers who grow the food that feeds our communities.

Supplier Saturday 🎅🍟

Santa Claus and Mrs Claus popped into Castleton Fish & Chips while enjoying their summer holidays! ☀️🎄

Apparently, after spending months checking who's been naughty or nice, Santa decided it was time to focus on the important list:

✅ Fish and chips with the best views in the Peak District

We're delighted to report that after extensive "quality control testing" (purely for research purposes, of course!), Santa gave his seal of approval. 🎅🍴

Mrs Claus was also spotted reminding him that Christmas is only a few months away and perhaps a second large chips wasn't part of the preparation plan... 🤭

The good news is that the reindeer don't need feeding until December, so there was plenty left for Santa to enjoy.

Always reliable, always cheerful and always, dare we get a pun in, chipper! 😄 Dave helps keep Castleton Fish & Chips clean, tidy and running smoothly behind the scenes.
Did you know?
✅ Food waste sent to landfill contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, which is why separating food waste correctly is so important.
⬇️ You can do your bit!please don't try and squeeze our bins open for rubbish or dog waste. We have bins for customers in the shop. Unfortunately, when dog waste & non food items end up in our food waste bin, it becomes contaminated and can no longer be processed as food waste. Instead, it has to go into general waste 😤
A big thank you to Dave and the Peak Waste team for all they do, and to our customers for helping us do our to try & lessen the impact on the environment. 💙👏

♻️ Our used cooking oil had its collection day today!

Thanks to our recycling partner, Olleco, the oil used to cook your favourite meals won't go to waste. Instead, it's transformed into renewable biodiesel, helping to power vehicles while reducing carbon emissions.

Pictured is Jonnie, one of Olleco's drivers, getting ready to enjoy some of our food before heading off on his collection round! 🍽️😊

Did you know?
Olleco operates the UK's largest used cooking oil-to-biodiesel facility.
Their Liverpool biorefinery turns food waste and used oil into renewable energy and fuel.
Recycling used cooking oil helps prevent drain blockages and pollution. No fatbergs here! 🚫🧈
Biodiesel made from waste cooking oil produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions than fuels made from virgin crops.

Every litre recycled is a small step towards a cleaner, greener future. 🌱

☀️ As summer continues in the Hope Valley, we're celebrating a treasured traditions, Wakes Week. Dating back generations, Wakes Week has long brought villages together through community celebrations, and this weekend's Bradwell carnival parade was no exception.
We’re delighted to share this photo of one of the beautifully decorated wells, created using traditional flower petaling and one of our team contributed to creation of the lettering, alongside a great group of volunteers.
And the award-winning Best Float, proudly featuring two members of our Castleton Fish & Chips team! 🏆A huge congratulations to everyone involved. Traditions like these are what make our Peak District communities so special.

School is officially out!
We’re looking forward to welcoming you everyday throughout the summer from tomorrow 22nd We’re open:
🕛 Sunday – Thursday: 12:00 – 17:00 �🕛 Friday: 12:00 – 19:00 �🕛 Saturday: 12:00 – 18:00
🎨 We've also been busy giving our outdoor picnic tables a fresh new look, ready for sunny days, coffees, snacks and catch-ups outside☀️

📅 Bank Holiday Monday will be our last day of summer opening, after which we'll be taking a short break, closing for 3 days. We'll then be back and ready to welcome you again from Friday 4th September.
