I've just been to the Chestnut Bake Shed in Walkington to get myself a Friday night treat. Its got lots of lovely homemade bakes made by my sister in law Christina and the bonus of a freezer full of our pots 🍦

Thank you for a great weekend! Saturday was absolutely gorgeous 🌞
As we come to the end of the season we are weather watching. This weekend is looking nice so we will be open again on both pitches. The wonderful girls that have done a fantastic job keeping Beverley open, have mostly gone off to uni now so we are limited with staff towards the end of the season (no point training people before we close for the winter). So please bare with us if it gets busy and there is just one of us 🩷

Open today at Hessle & Beverley 🍦

Everyone and their dog catered for. We have doggy ice cream available at both pitches and if your venturing the beautiful Westwood Pastures amongst the cows and the pat and have one of them roly poly dogs that loves the smelly stuff then you can even get your dog washed at the The Woofy Wash at Beverley Golf course! What more could you ask for 😆

Absolutely this! We work our backsides off all summer and every weekend so families can enjoy their weekends and school holidays but we pay the price for it in more way than one. The system needs to change for us small businesses :( Familiy time is so precious 🩵

Our annual family holiday = another year of being fined. More than last year, and if we go next year we get taken to court. We have four children, we get fined per parent, per child 😲

Last year I appealed to school, the council and I wrote to our local MP. I contested it on the grounds that our working family simply cannot have family holidays out of term time.

We need to be at work during school holidays as we rely on these to earn an income. Whether that be in summer or winter. My kids spend their time off school, being dragged around with us, working with us and are honestly passed from pillar to post while we survive the busy season. Come September, we catch our breath and hope we have earnt enough for a family holiday.

There are thousands of small businesses like us who are seasonal and are being fined a fortune! Not just owners, but also staff who can't take holidays during peak season, and it extends far beyond the hospitality sector. There are many contracts that forbid annual leave during peak season.

My kids have good attendance and do well in school. Why should I have to explain this to court? My brain is baffled!

Can someone come to parliament with me and get this sorted please? 🙏😂

So our season at Beverley racecourse has now ended and we are approaching the last weekends at our Beverley Westwood pitch. We have no plans to go into October on the Westwood but we will gage it weekly looking at the weather. We have some much needed family time to catch up on and a holiday booked. We are definitely open this weekend but could it be our last at Beverley for the year?
