Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Fish Frier Apprentice to join the team at Jacksons of Hesketh Bank. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the skills needed to become a confident and skilled fish fryer, while gaining valuable experience in all aspects of working in a busy fish and chip shop.
You will work alongside our experienced team while completing a Level 2 Fish Frier/Production Chef apprenticeship, developing your knowledge and practical skills through on-the-job training.
Main Duties
• Learning how to prepare, cook and finish a range of fish and chip products to a consistently high standard.
• Learning correct frying techniques, including managing cooking times, temperatures and portion sizes.
• Preparing fish, potatoes, batter and other food products for service.
• Following food hygiene, health and safety and allergen procedures at all times.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen and frying area.
• Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Using equipment safely and responsibly.
• Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Operating the till and accurately processing cash and card payments.
• Taking customer orders and ensuring orders are prepared correctly.
• Packing and presenting food to a high standard.
• Answering customer queries and providing excellent customer service.
• Restocking the counter, packaging and other supplies when required.
• Helping to keep the counter, dining/service areas and wider shop clean and tidy.
• Working as part of the wider team and supporting colleagues wherever required.
• Carrying out other reasonable duties associated with working as a Counter Assistant and Fish Frier.

The apprenticeship will combine practical workplace experience with structured training, allowing you to earn while you learn and develop the skills needed for a career within the fish and chip industry.
