Nestled in the picturesque village of Great Amwell, the George IV is one of Hertfordshire's best-kept secrets. Head chef, Oliver D'Arcy, is consistently creating imaginative modern British and European dishes alongside traditional pub classics, providing guests with a restaurant quality dining experience while retaining a relaxed country pub atmosphere. A seasonal menu with freshly prepared seafood, selection of steak cuts, braised meat and game options in the colder months and a fabulous roast served on Sundays. The George IV also hosts a summer BBQ, tasting evening with wine pairing and tapas nights. We have an interesting range of cask ales and beer, a wine list to complement our dishes, cocktail list and extensive gin menu. A beautiful function room is available for private dining, birthdays, weddings, meetings and Christmas parties. The sun-drenched terrace and enclosed courtyard are popular in the summer with a log fire to warm those winter nights.
