HOT HOT HOT

Due to the heatwave we will be closing early today (26th) and tomorrow (27th). Our kitchen is essentially a black metal box and we are starting to flag in the heat so for the safety (and sanity!)of staff we will be operating shorter opening hours.

Today - last orders 2pm
Tomorrow - 9am-1pm (last orders 12pm)

We will back to regular hours on Thursday if the forecast is correct and it’s a bit cooler!

THE COWS

Here come the girls…our newest addition! Four traditional Hereford cows have arrived recently and they’ve now settled in and are ready to say hello! They’re all between 4-6 years old and are all due to have calves soon! Bonus points for anyone who guesses the theme for their names!

We’re getting to know them and can already see their personalities starting to show…

Hyacinth - the biggest and bravest of the 4, always first for food and not afraid to tell the others off!

Daisy - second biggest and a bit more sensitive but still keen to get her head in a bucket for food, loves a scratch under the chin or behind the ears.

Rose - smallest and prettiest with fluffy ears, so far she’s kept herself to herself and isn’t too keen to say hello, we’re hoping she’ll get used to us and come for cuddles soon!

Violet - a slightly late addition to the crew, Violet arrived last minute but has settled in well, inquisitive but a bit shy, she’s happy to come for some food and maybe a bit of fuss if she’s feeling brave but is always wary that Hyacinth might tell her off!

SHEARING SELFIES

Of course we got roped in to help with shearing the girls tonight after we finished work. With the heatwave coming they’ll be glad of their new haircuts!

Valentine is the leading lady of the flock of Herdwicks here at Field Meadow but even she needed a little reassurance that her new hairdo looked cute!

JIM THE SING(er)!

This is Jim. He and his absolutely lovely wife Alison have been supporters of Camperdown Lane and regulars of The Coffee Shed for a long time. One day a few years back he mentioned he quite likes playing his guitar and did we fancy having him come along and play at events. And so our partnership was formed!

Jim has become a regular fixture at events playing everything from Guns N’ Roses to Harry Styles. Our customers love it and so do we. His tunes always get us through the busy day and we love singing and dancing along. Yesterday at our Art & Crafts Fair he even brought his own fans!

Jim and Alison often call in for coffee and I love having a chat with them, they always brighten our day. Especially when Jim comes in for a sneaky coffee and cake when he should be on his way to work!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Just a little video to say thanks to every single customer who came through the gate today. We’ve been so busy today and every single person has made us smile.

Thank you for supporting all our makers at the Arts & Crafts Fair, they all had a fantastic day and we’ve loved seeing everything they had to offer. I was going to do a big post tonight with loads of photos but I just didn’t have time to take any!

MILKSHAKES

Our delicious milkshakes are made with ice cream and creamy milk. We’ve got a range of flavours: strawberry, vanilla, banana, caramel, chocolate or honeycomb or why not combine syrups and make your own flavour like our landlord Alistair’s favourite banoffee?!
