Whether you like yours rare, medium or well done, a juicy steak, fresh salad and a few chips is hard to beat on a summer evening.

Swap the midweek takeaway for a proper steak night. Get everyone around the table, and pack in the protein, even better when it's made with quality local beef.

Our steaks are reared just two miles from the butchery on our own farm, so you know exactly where your food has come from. Add one of our Tubby Tom's steak rubs for an extra hit of flavour, throw it on the grill, and dinner's sorted.

Nothing in for tea again?

You know the feeling, you're starving, the fridge is empty, and cooking is the last thing you want to do.

Our savouries are baked ready to pick up from the butchery. Chicken & chorizo pie, chicken & mushroom pie, traditional pasties, sausage rolls and classic pork pies - all ready to grab, or keep in the fridge for the night you need something simple and filling.

Beef or Lamb? Put quality on the table this Sunday.

Whether you're feeding the five thousand or it's just the two of you, we've got the cuts to make all that effort worth every bite.

Right now we've got rolled beef sirloin from our own herd at Upper Court Farm and leg of lamb from Owen Watkins, less than a mile from the butchery. Both in ready for the weekend.

Our roasting tips:

Rolled Beef Sirloin
• Sear in a hot pan before roasting.
• Roast at 220°C for 20 minutes, then reduce to 160°C and cook for 10–15 minutes per 500g.
• For medium rare, aim for an internal temperature of 53–54°C.
• Prefer medium? Cook to 57–59°C.

Leg of Lamb
• Remove from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature before cooking.
• Roast at 220°C for the first 20 minutes, then reduce to 190°C and cook for 15–20 minutes per 500g for a beautifully pink, juicy finish.

Hay Festival has been and gone, and while the town is recovering, we’ll be keeping the counter stocked with all the usual favourites!
