Historic Hereford Cathedral gardens to open for special tour this Saturday.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore some of Hereford Cathedral’s most historic and normally private gardens when a Garden Tour takes place on Saturday 19 September.

The cathedral grounds contain a fascinating collection of gardens, offering a glimpse into centuries of religious, social and culinary life in the city.

The tour will include the historic Chapter House Garden, which sits among medieval ruins, as well as the gardens around the College of the Vicars Choral, Cloister and Chapter, which reflect pre-Reformation lifestyles.

Visitors can also discover the majestic Bishop’s Palace Garden, where spring bulbs carpet the lawns beneath ancient trees, and the secluded College Garden, where roses provide the scent of summer.

The tour begins at 2pm and lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. Tickets cost £7.50 and can be purchased in advance through Hereford Cathedral’s website or on the day from the Ticket Desk.
